Jeremy Allen White and cast Bear rolled up their sleeves and put on their aprons to prepare for the latest season.

Just days after the third season of the FX show went off the air, Courtney Storer, the show’s culinary producer, shared a behind-the-scenes look at how the cast prepared to play the chef roles.

Almost all dishes included Bear they are actually created by the actors, which of course takes a lot of practice. White spoke about his experience studying with professional chefs for Bearprevious seasons, but Storer’s latest post describes just how much work it takes to prepare.

In the clip, knife-wielding White, who plays head chef Carmy, and Lionel Boyce, who plays pastry chef Marcus, carefully observe and mirror the culinary professionals.

Storer’s clip features Brian Lockwood, chef formerly of Eleven Madison Park and The French Laundry, and Malcolm Livingston II, pastry chef and student at Noma and wd~50. Bear draws inspiration from some of those cuisines.

White sticks to savory dishes in the clip and is seen rolling out pasta sheets and filling them with cheese and egg yolks before pressing into the ravioli. Actors on Bear have taken their culinary duties seriously since the show’s inception. Ayo Edebiri, who plays Sydney, told PEOPLE that she and White studied with real-life chefs at the Institute for Culinary Education (ICE) in Pasadena, California. The couple spent several weeks, “from sun up to sun down, just cooking and learning the basics.”

The techniques Edebiri learned at ICE made it an experience for her as an actress. “It was actually amazing,” she said. “Being on your feet for so long, making yourself small in these really tight spaces, just always being on, was pretty priceless. And yes, it is very exciting. I thought, I’m an actress learning a skill for a job. How much fun is that?”
