The bigger dog never gets the ball while grabbing, so dad has a sweet solution

Experienced pet owners know that older pets will often need different care than their younger siblings.

One dog dad has come up with a clever solution to make such a change while still allowing his beloved big puppy to join his favorite game of tug of war.

In the touching video below, you can see the amazing papa playing fetch with his two puppies, an Australian Shepherd and an older Golden Retriever.

As you can see in the video, he throws the first ball to ‘Aussie’ from quite a distance, but then throws the second ball very quietly for ‘Goldie’ to catch.

Goldie ran towards the ball with her tail wagging happily, then watched the Aussie run all the way, just like he used to. According to Jenna Stregowski, the Daily Paws’ pet health and behavior editor, this dog’s dad is doing exactly what she should be doing.

He mentioned that aging is not a disease, it just requires certain adjustments so that your pet can continue to live a happy, healthy life.

“Older dogs can still run and play in the dog park,” says Stregowski. “You just want to make changes to accommodate them and keep an eye on them. The physical limitations don’t mean they don’t need the same mental stimulation as before.”
