WHEN Miley Cyrus sang about how we were right until we were wrong, built a home and watched it burn in last year’s global hit Flowers, she was mourning a lost love.
But those barbed lyrics could also be about the feud rumored to be tearing her family apart.

The break-up anthem, which was the best-selling single worldwide of 2023, earned the former Disney TV star her first Grammy last month for best pop solo performance.
When accepting the award, Miley thanked “my mom, my sister, my love,” but not her dad, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus.
And the fact that her half-sister Brandi was invited to the ceremony along with mom Tish has onlookers wondering if her other sister Noah is the sibling in question.
Now a potential reason for a major schism appeared.
The American magazine claims that Noah (24) was seeing actor Dominic Purcell until his mom “stole” him from her.
A whirlwind romance followed, with Tish, 56, and Merseyside-born Dominic, 54, tying the knot last August.
Just two months later Billy Ray (62) married the Australian singer Firerose, who at 34 is only three years older than Miley.
Miley seems to have sided with her mom, as she was a bridesmaid at her wedding and avoided her dad.
A source told US Weekly magazine: “The turmoil between Noah and Tish goes way beyond that.
“Noah is very distraught because Tish stole Dominic from her.”

But the origins of the Cyrus family break-up go much further than Tish’s social media messaging with Dominic.
Her marriage to Billy Ray, best known for his 1992 hit Achy Breaky Heart, was troubled from the start.
While Tish was pregnant with Miley the year Achy Breaky Heart was a worldwide hit, Billy Ray’s ex-partner Kristin Luckey was also expecting his son, Christopher Cody, now 31.
He finally married Tish in 1993, but she said the marriage was not easy.
They both threatened to divorce before finally doing so in 2022.
Billy Ray was the first to file for divorce in 2010, but held off, and then Tish did the same three years later.
But they stayed together, partly because of Miley and her five siblings, including brothers Braison, 29, and Trace, 35.

Brandi (36) and Trace were adopted by Billy Ray, and their biological father was Tisha’s first husband, drummer Baxter Helson.
There were disagreements between parents about Miley’s career.
It was Tish, as her manager, who pushed her to get the role of Hannah Montana in the Disney TV series when Miley was 13 years old.
The hit series turned the teenager into a global phenomenon, but after a video of her smoking the psychoactive drug Salvia at the age of 18 was released in 2010, her father expressed regret for exposing his child to the world of show business.
A year after the incident, he said: “The damn show destroyed my family. I would return it in a heartbeat.
“It would be fantastic if my family was here and everyone was fine, healthy and sane, happy and normal.”
The father and daughter reportedly grew estranged due to his concerns over Miley’s increasingly wild behavior, such as appearing topless in photos.
They reconciled until the pandemic delivered a wrecking ball to any sense of harmony.

Instead of going through isolation together, Billy Ray stayed in Tennessee, while Tish stayed with Miley in California.
Tish told a podcast last month that she would “smoke weed and garden and go skinny dipping in my pool” during Covid and had a “breakdown” when her mother died in August 2020.
Following her divorce in April 2022, she and Billy Ray released a joint statement claiming the split was amicable.
They wrote: “After 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways – not with sadness, but with love in our hearts.”
But in the podcast, Tish painted a very different picture. She said: “I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t stop crying.
“I don’t have my mom, and then I don’t have my husband, who has been my husband for 30 years. It’s like I’m afraid.”
Miley is said to have fallen out with her father over the way he treated Tish, with a source saying they “were not on good terms.”
Three months later, Tish decided to get in touch with the divorced father of four, Dominic, whom she admits she has been in love with for a long time.

Dominic, who grew up in Australia and played Lincoln Burrows for five years in the US TV drama Prison Break, was also secretly interested in her.
According to Tish, they “kissed” on their first date and after a few days told each other, “I love you.”
Dominic proposed in April 2023, and they married in Malibu four months later.
Although Brandi, Trace and Miley were present, Braison and Noah were not.
They spent time at a Walmart store outside of Los Angeles, with Noah wearing a Billy Ray T-shirt, hinting at where her devotion to her parents lies.
Last October, there were signs of tension between Miley and her youngest brother, with Noah commenting on social network X about “the disrespect in this video”.
The video in question features Miley telling podcast host Joe Rogan that Noah’s record The End Of Everything is “the most depressing EP you’ll ever listen to.”
In October 2023, Billy Ray married Firerose, whom he began dating after breaking up with Tish.
They met as co-workers on the set of Hannah Montana years ago and released a song together in July 2021.
After the reunion, Billy Ray and Firerose released the duet Plans, in which they sang, “There’s nothing else I’d rather do than plan the rest of my life with you.”
Billy Ray regularly posts photos of himself with his new wife on his Instagram page filled with love hearts.
Miley did not attend her father’s wedding, suggesting that no estrangement is over.
This was reinforced by her speech at the Grammys in January, when she thanked “everyone standing on this stage right now. . . Tom, Tyler, Michael and Greg. . . our teams, my team, Crush, Columbia, my mom, my sister, my love, my main gays, because look how good I look. . .
“I don’t think I’ve forgotten anyone. But maybe I forgot my underwear. Greeting.”
It was reported that Billy Ray sent a message to his daughter, congratulating her on two Grammy Awards, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for Flowers.
The source said he “tried to reach Miley many times.”
So far, neither Miley nor her father have publicly commented on the feud rumors.
Many fans believe that Flowers was written about Miley’s divorce from her husband, Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth, in August 2019.
Her love life is now more settled as she has been in a relationship with drummer Maxx Moranda for over two years.
If she needs heartbreaking material for her next record, her family’s problems may be a much more fruitful source.
