The D’Amelio Show Is Not Moving Forward at Hulu After 3 Seasons

After three seasons, The D’Amelio Show will not return.

PEOPLE confirmed Thursday, June 27, that the Hulu family series is not moving forward following a mutual decision between the streamer and the D’Amelios.

The first season of the series started airing in September 2021 and lasted for three years. Throughout the series, sisters Charli, 20, and Dixie, 22, who rose to fame making viral TikTok videos, shared behind-the-scenes dynamics within their family and personal lives, from health scares to dealing with fame.

Towards the end of Season 3, parents Heidi, 52, and Marc, 55, also revealed their lives to the cameras, showing an inside look at their marital problems and divorce talks. They explained that their problems got worse when Heidi and Charli (who won with partner Mark Ballas) became the first mother-daughter duo to compete against each other in season 31. In the confessional from the October 2023 episode, Marc explained that his wife and daughter’s involvement in DWTS “it created this big change in our family that I wasn’t ready for.”

He went on to say, “If I knew what I know now, yeah, like, ‘Dude, she wants her career,'” he would have realized that Heidi wanted to do “exactly what I’ve been doing for the last 20 years” and “start a business.”

Looking back on their marriage, the patriarch of the family said he wished he hadn’t taken all the opportunities in his career for himself and allowed Heidi to explore her life outside of the family.

Season 3 also explored Dixie’s premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), which caused her to take time off work to focus on her physical and mental health. At the time, the “Psycho” singer explained that she had symptoms such as depression, anxiety, irritability and insomnia.

“People will be like, ‘Oh my God, they all get it,’ like no,” Dixie said. “I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to want to die every month before you got your period. It shouldn’t affect every single aspect of your life, from sleep to anxiety.”

With Charlie far behind DWTS, fans saw the sisters grow apart. In one episode, Charli explained that she didn’t know what to do when it came to being there for Dixie because she never understood the PMDD diagnosis.

“When I see Dixie break down, I never know how to react because either she doesn’t want anything to do with me or she wants me to help her,” she said in the confessional. “It’s so confusing. I did my own research on PMDD to kind of understand, at least a little bit, but she never really explained it to me.”
