The girl ran away from the expensive city life and built herself a small house of 13.5 m².
Lee Pera, a geographer and builder by profession, is tired of the high cost of living in Washington. This led her to the decision to create her own comfortable home of 13.5 m², far from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Despite having no experience with tools since childhood, Lee relearned the trade as she did most of the work herself.
In addition to the structure of the house, Lee also made many pieces of furniture, because the standard options did not fit the dimensions. Everything, from wardrobes to kitchen furniture, was made by her skilled hands.
The interior is decorated in a unique style. Initially drawing inspiration from Scandinavian aesthetics, Lee decided to add a personal touch, making the space bright and distinctive. Wallpaper with a botanical pattern, bright colors and textures give the house individuality, while the cozy loft bedroom provides privacy.
“I especially love my bedroom. It’s cozy but not overcrowded, thanks to a few windows. Waking up and seeing tree branches, then looking down into the living room, realizing that all of this was created by my hands — it’s a special feeling,” says Lee.
Despite its modest size, Lee’s house has everything necessary for comfort: a living room, kitchen, bedroom, work area and even a bathroom.
However, as he admits, in order for the house not to look untidy, things need to be cleaned constantly.
Lee became one of the pioneers in the tiny house movement. Now he travels, sharing his experience and encouraging people to live an eco-friendly and frugal life.
