The Good Witch Cast Reunites and Shares Hopes for the Hallmark Hit's Future: 'We Have Not Given Up Trying'

The Good witch The cast brought their magic to Christmas Con!

Catherine Bell, James Denton, Catherine Disher and Sarah Power reunited on stage for a panel moderated by PEOPLE’s Breanne L. Heldman at the annual Fan Festival at the New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center on December 14th.

“We haven’t been able to see each other for 10 years, and then we run into each other and it’s like we saw each other yesterday,” Disher said of reuniting with the cast. “It was such a great group of people.”

When asked what the cast missed most while filming the show, Bell admitted there were several aspects Good witch which was hard to part with.

“I really miss doing the show. I miss it,” she said, noting that she also missed the fans. “I miss the character. I miss the magic. I think we were all a little surprised when it ended because we didn’t get the ending we wanted.”

Despite the show ending more than three years ago, “we haven’t given up on trying to make a movie,” Bell added.

“Just tell us where to be. We all want it. Just set it up and we’ll show up,” Denton joked. “We hope so.”

If the movie were to be made, Power said she would like to explore how her character Abigail gets married.

“I’ve heard from a lot of people here that they want her to marry Donovan [Marc Bendavid]”, she explained. “I have to try on a wedding dress, but I never have to marry it. I don’t think our producers wanted to do another wedding episode after your craziness [Bell and Denton’s characters] the wedding was.”

PEOPLE exclusively announced in September that the mini-reunion will take place as the Christmas Gathering marks its fifth anniversary in 2024.

Bell, 56, celebrated the news on Facebook, writing: “IT’S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!! Christmas Con NJ 2024 And with @official.james.denton @sarahjpower and #CathyDisher !!! We will all be there all 3 days. So please come say hello!!!!! ”

Good witch began as a TV movie franchise in 2008 on the Hallmark Channel before becoming a series in 2015. It ran for seven seasons, ending in July 2021. The series followed Cassie Nightingale (Bell) as she embarked on a magical new journey with her teenage daughter Grace (Bailee Madison), who also shared her mother’s abilities.

After the series ended in 2021, Bell spoke candidly about her experience in an Instagram post.

“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened!” Bell wrote, quoting Dr. Seuss. “I’m so grateful for 7 seasons… and 13 years (of movies) to be a part of The Good Witch, working with the KINDEST and most talented cast and crew, producers, network! Always felt like family ❤️.”

After sharing how her character Cassie “inspired me to be a better person, to be kinder, gentler, more loving and accepting,” Bell added, “I know a lot of you felt the same way 🥰 I feel so lucky. I know we will all miss the Good Witch and all the amazing characters [sic] and stories. But I’m definitely laughing because it happened.”
