Director Rob Marshall recently talked about Jonah as Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, specifically regarding the new original song written for the live-action version. He said, “Of course, we realized that Eric didn’t have this song in the original. I don’t know anything about him! So obviously we should give him the song ‘I Want’. It was his ‘Part of your world’. AND [with it], he becomes a three-dimensional character. It’s a different genre. You go from 2D work to 3D work with real people.”

It’s obviously scary because I know that means I’ll be singing alongside Halla.”
