Tessa Thompson is in The Marvels!
Studio Marvel released the latest trailer for The Marvels ahead of its theatrical release on Friday, sparking a surprise appearance by Thompson, 40, as her character Valkyrie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The new trailer takes a different tone than previous trailers for the upcoming film, which stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani as their characters team up in the 2019 sequel. Captain Marvel. Flash scenes from past Marvel Studios movies — including more the Avengers films and the first Captain Marvel — before teasing villain Zawe Ashton Dar-Benn, who seems to come from another universe.
Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury enlists the help of Carol Danvers (Larson) in “the final stand,” at which point Valkyrie is seen advising Carol.
Thompson last appeared as Valkyrie in 2022 Thor: Love and Thunder, in which the character takes on the task of leading New Asgard on Earth. It was not previously announced that he would appear in the new film directed by Nia DaCosta.

Although The Marvels officially serves as a sequel Captain Marvelthe film also continues on Disney+ shows WandaVision, Ms. Marvel and Secret invasion. Parris’ character Monica Rambeau is introduced via WandaVisionand 21-year-old Vellani made her debut as Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel in last year’s miniseries of the same name.
Jackson, 74, led the ensemble Secret invasionwhich revolved around the Skrulls, a race of alien shapeshifters first introduced in Captain Marvel.

Previous trailers for Marvel Studios’ final film in 2023 teased that Carol, Monica and Kamala’s light-based powers are intertwined, forcing the group to come together as Dar-Benn arrives to provoke another feud.
“Together, this unlikely trio must band together and learn to work together to save the universe as ‘The Marvels,'” reads the official synopsis for the film.
