The Morning Show Season 4: All About the Drama Starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon

Morning show returns in the fourth season.

PEOPLE reported that the series received an early renewal in April 2023, five months before the Season 3 premiere and before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes put film and TV production on hold.

Starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, Morning show takes an inside look at the fictional UBA news network, including the lives of those who bring the world’s most important news to the screen and the internal politics at play.

Since premiering in 2019, the series has been a top performer on Apple TV+, earning more than 50 award nominations to date. Aniston won a 2020 SAG Award for her portrayal of host Alex Levy, and Billy Crudup won a 2020 Emmy Award for his portrayal of UBA President Cory Ellison.

Season 3 introduced Jon Hamm as billionaire Paul Marks, a corporate titan wooed by Cory Ellison to save UBA from financial trouble. As Marks and Levy develop a romantic relationship over the course of the season that could threaten the deal, suspicions about Marks’ past and intentions begin to surface.

After a network hack and near-acquisition by corporate titan Paul Marks, UBA’s sale to Hyperion was stalled at the last minute when Alex Levy pitched a merger between UBA and NBN to the board. Alex also confronted Paul about his shady dealings, from using spyware on their phones to trying to cover up problems with the Hyperion One rocket.

Stopping Paul was a group effort that began with a would-be whistleblower, Kate (Natalie Morales), who was fired from Hyperion. Bradley, Stella (Greta Lee) and Chip (Mark Duplass) join forces to find out what Paul is hiding and stop the sale. Alex, somewhat distracted by her relationship with Paul throughout the season, didn’t join the effort until it came down to the wire.

Eventually, Bradley and her brother, Hal, turned themselves in to the FBI for their actions surrounding the Rebellion. Bradley covered up Hal’s involvement on January 6 — with Cory’s help — by deleting a tape that implicated Hal and lied to the FBI.

The streamer hasn’t released any information about the Season 4 storyline, but based on where things left off at the end of Season 3, the fallout from the merger between UBA and NBN is likely to be a major plot point. The merger of the two media companies raises many questions about who will still have the job and which programs will survive, including UBS’s flagship morning show.

Along with the merger, the Season 3 finale teased that Alex has a new role and an actual seat at the table, so we could potentially see her in a powerful position within the media company.

There’s also a good chance that the fallout from Bradley’s cover-up of her brother’s involvement in the U.S. Capitol rebellion will continue to affect the story.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reportershowrunner Charlotte Stoudt shared that writing for Season 4 has just begun, but fans can expect to see the fallout from Season 3 “in every sense and for every character.”

“If we asked the audience to go on that ride, then we have to honor that ride,” she said.

Of course, as from the first season, Morning show will continue to draw inspiration from real-life titles.

When will Morning show season 4 air?

No premiere date has been announced, but if the current pattern of releasing a season every other year continues, we expect a 4th season release in 2025. Season 1 premiered in November 2019, Season 2 in September 2021, and Season 3 in September 2023.

The cast for season four has not been confirmed, but Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson and Aniston’s Alex Levy are expected to return, especially since both stars are also executive producing the show.

Aniston spoke about her positive experience working in the series. “We’re making progress and it’s pretty — dare I say it — easy,” she told Variety. “It’s such a pleasant set. We like to communicate. We like to work things out and not sweep them under the rug. No stone was left unturned in the creative decision. We all put our heads together. There’s something so wonderful about trusting your co-workers that you know if five people tell you you look sick, I’m going to lie down, I’m going to put my sword down on this one.”

Crudup’s Cory Ellison, Duplass’ Chip Black, Lee’s Stella Bak, Karen Pittman’s Mia Jordan and Nestor Carbonell’s Yanko Flores are likely to return for season four Morning show.

Also, with the UBS/NBN merger storyline, we could see more of Elizabeth Perkins, who appeared in season 3 as the NBN president, Elena.

Season 3 introduced Chris Hunter, played by Nicole Beharie, but the character was courted by a sports media network, so there’s a chance he won’t be back.

While Hamm’s character, Paul Marks, may not have a prominent storyline in the upcoming seasons, we could see more of him, whether he finds a way to seek retribution for his falling contract with UBS, or as a subject on one of the news shows.

According to DiversityJulianna Margulies — who plays Laura Peterson, one of NBN’s stars and Bradley’s love interest — turned down the chance to appear in Season 4.

A download for season 5 has not been announced since filming for season 4 hasn’t even started yet, but the streamer has an option that allows for season 5.

While showrunner Stoudt told THR that she is currently focused on the fourth season, she did not rule out the possibility of a continuation of the story.

You can always say something new about what is happening in the world, she said. “I have no idea how long people want to keep going, but I think it’s a show that can keep reinventing itself.”
