Alex Jones reunited with her ex-boyfriend Steve Jones on BBC’s The One Show when he appeared on the show on Tuesday.
Steve, who dated the Welsh presenter from 1999 to 2002, joined Alex and Jermaine Jenas to promote their debut novel, Call timetells the story of protagonist Bob Bloomfield, who calls himself a 12-year-old boy in an attempt to prevent his younger brother’s death in 1986.

The pair previously shared a quick greeting, with Alex saying, “Nice to meet you,” following his introduction on the show.
Steve added, “Nice to meet you, nice to meet you.”

Alex went on to ask Steve about his new book, which was partially inspired by his tragic childhood experience when his friend Chris died after getting off his bike.

“As a prolific reader, you’re definitely a good writer!” Alex started. “I read part of the book and I was hooked.”
Steve joked, “How small is it? Which side of the Joneses are you on?”
Alex replied, “Probably a quarter of the way.”

Alex went on to ask about a personal tragedy he drew for the novel, and Steve explained, “There was a dark connection between me and my main character, Bob Bloomfield. As a child, he He was riding a bike with his brother and his brother got off the motorbike and died.
“The same thing happened to me when I was a kid. My brother, Jonathan and our best friend, Chris, went on a bike ride. Chris fell off his bike and died. I was 19 years old at the time. .”

The 46-year-old explained that the couple went their separate ways after Steve blocked her interview with Angelina Jolie.

Speaking on the podcast, Alex revealed that Steve had told her boss she was unwell and had come home from London to Cardiff.

“Usually they would call in the morning and ask for an interview or field trip,” she explains.
“I was in his apartment while I was working in London and he picked up the landline and said ‘Al isn’t here. He’s not feeling well, he has to go back to Cardiff’, I was at Topshop,” she said. he explained and added, “So he did the interview.”
In a separate interview on the Thanks A Million podcast with Angela Scanlon, Alex went into more detail and revealed how the couple broke up on television.

“The production company called and they said, ‘We have a little situation,'” she said. “Tomorrow morning your boyfriend is going to a movie premiere with Angelina Jolie and it would be really funny if you picked up the phone, live on the show and surprised him and said you knew exactly what he was doing. What.”
Alex went on to say that she accepted the offer and that the pair “parted on TV live”.
