The Real Housewives of Orange County Turns 18: See How Andy Cohen and the Cast Celebrated Milestone

The Real Housewives of Orange County came of age!

On Thursday, executive producer Andy Cohen celebrated his 18th anniversary The Real Housewives of Orange County airing of the first episode with a throwback image of the OGs of The OC: Vicki Gunvalson, Jo De La Rosa, Lauri Peterson and Jeana Keough (Kim Bryant was not pictured).

“‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ premiered on Bravo EIGHTEEN years ago today!!!'” Cohen captioned the photo. “Little did I know at the time how that show—and over a hundred amazing women in more than a dozen spinoffs—would change pop culture and my life! THANK YOU HOUSEWIVES for all you’ve given us, and to the amazing production teams at Evolution, Shed Media, Truly Original, Sirens Media, & Purveyors of POP. (Pictured: THE REAL OG of the whole damn thing, minus Kim Bryant!)”

Really, RHOCinitially an unscripted docu-series about wealthy women living in the gated community of Coto de Caza, it will launch an entire franchise on Bravo and later on the streaming service Peacock.

Orange County premiered in March 2006, followed by The Real Housewives of New York in 2008, The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2008, The Real Housewives of New Jersey 2009, and the list goes on and on.

Real housewives the franchise now includes 10 shows currently on air, including an international version in Dubai, as well as numerous special shows and editions including Vanderpump Rules.

“Time flies when you’re having fun. What the hell was I wearing????😮,” Gunvalson, who starred on the show from seasons 1-13 and returned as a “friend” in season 14, wrote in the caption.

“Can’t believe it’s been 18 years! Also, not my caramel hair and added curls to make it worse! 😂🤣,” tweeted De La Rosa, who exited the show after season two.

Cast members who joined in later seasons also paid tribute to the series.

“They paved the way 🤍🍊,” Tamra Judge captioned the Season 3 add, which included an orange emoji. The housewives hold a recognizable citrus fruit in the series’ closing credits.

“Wow! 18 years! So wild! What a trip!” added Gretchen Rossi, who appeared in seasons 4-8.

“Wow. Crazy. So happy to be a part of the first franchise!❤️,” wrote Peggy Tanous, who joined the cast full-time for one season in Season 6.

The seventeenth season finished airing in October 2023 and featured Judge, Shannon Storms Beador, Heather Dubrow, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson and newcomer Jennifer Pedranti. Gunvalson appeared in a guest role.

Season 18 production is currently underway, and former OC housewife Alexis Bellino is returning. Bravo does not comment on the casting.
