Layla Taylor is experiencing new things in a new chapter of her life.
Layla, 23, is one of the eight women who make up the lineup The Secret Lives of Mormon Women. Speaking with PEOPLE about how women deal with the topic of sex, Layla says she’s happy to be part of a group of women who are “normalizing” those conversations.
“It’s not something that’s talked about every day. I think it’s something that should be. I think it’s something that should be normalized in a marriage — a happy, healthy marriage,” she tells PEOPLE.
She continues: “In my case, I said I never had an orgasm until recently, at the age of 23, which is crazy. So I think having these open conversations will just normalize certain things and make women feel more comfortable and open with their sexuality, which I think is amazing.”

In a scene from the Hulu series, Layla admits to the women that even though she’s a divorced mother of two, she hasn’t had an orgasm yet.
The topic comes up during a discussion among castmates about whether Whitney Leavitt should advertise a vibrator on her social media page.
“Honestly, I think Whitney should take the vibrator deal,” Layla says in the confessional.
In talking to women, Demi Engemann points out: “I think because of shame and lack of knowledge, I think a lot of women don’t even experience orgasm.”
Layla – who was 22 when the episode was filmed – then throws her hands up saying: “I’m a dead ass, never in my life.”
Layla explains that she was married for three years — from age 19 to 21 — and, “I’ve only ever really dated four people, so that’s not a lot of time to discover myself.”
When asked if she’s ever tried a toy, she says yes, adding: “Whenever I get close to the feeling, I get scared and stop. Two kids, 22, never in my life.”
“I feel like I’m missing out,” she admits.
