Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 8

Skeleton Crew episode 8 is the finale for this brand-new Star Wars series, featuring some very exciting Easter eggs. Featuring exciting action sequences as the kid crew of The Onyx Cinder fight to save their home world from Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood and his band of pirates, some really cool connections and references are made to the wider Star Wars galaxy and timeline. This includes some fascinating ties to the events of Order 66 itself.

As seen in the previous Skeleton Crew episode 7, Jod convinces At Attin’s security droids that he’s a Republic emissary on official business to offload credits from the Republic Mint held beneath the planet with over 1,000 vaults packed with dataries. As such, Wim, Fern, Neel, and KB work together to get a message out to the New Republic for assistance, all while Jod’s history as a Force-user is finally revealed. As such, here are the biggest Easter eggs and references to be found in Skeleton Crew episode 8.

All Easter Eggs and References in Skeleton Crew Episode 8

“The Real Good Guys”

  • Supervisor’s Tower – Both the exterior and interior mirror Palpatine’s throne room aboard the second Death Star, including how the Supervisor turns to face his visitors just like Palpatine does.
  • The Supervisor Resembles Hal 9000 – It’s not hard to see the similarities between The Supervisor and Hal 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey, espeically the bed red lens.
  • A Republic Message About Jedi Traitors – The last message The Supervisor received from the Republic was that all Jedi were traitors. This connects to the events of Order 66 and the Jedi Purge in Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine’s public explanastion to justify killing the Jedi Order.
  • Princess Fern – Wim refers to Fern as “Princess Fern” while pretending to play with his toys, confirming that she’s serving as a Leia replacement in this show, including when she’s forced to watch the takeover of her planet with the villains, not unlike Princess Leia being forced to watch the destruction of Alderaan in A New Hope.
  • Jod Killing The Supervisor – Driving his lightsaber into the eye, some viewers might see a parallel between Jod killing The Supervisor and Qui-Gon melting the Trade Federation doors at the beginning of The Phantom Menace.
  • All Droids Deactivated – When The Supervisor dies, all the security droids are deactivated too, just like in The Phantom Menace when the control ship is destroyed, allowing the Gungans to push the battle droids over (just like Wim does).
  • Hoverbikes to the Rescue – The gang of kids (and Wim’s dad) biking to the rescue is very much a callback to Steven Spielberg’s E.T: The Extra Terrestrial.
  • Skiffs – Jod’s pirate crew comes down to terrorize At Attin on skiffs, mirroring Jabba’s enforcers in Return of the Jedi.
  • “You’re No Jedi” – Wim accuses Jod of his lies, and the line does bring to mind Ahsoka Tano’s classic “I Am No Jedi” line.
  • Jod’s Master – Jod reveals a Jedi once found him and taught him a few things as a child, only to be killed by the Empire. While unnamed, it’s likely she was killed by an Imperial Inquisitor.
  • Wim Mirrors Finn – Finally activating the blue lightsaber right side up, Wim very much looks like Finn in The Force Awakens when he similarly activates a blue lightsaber for the first time (including the same color jacket).
  • B-Wings Attacking, A Live Action First – A couple of B-wings are shown supporting a squadron of X-wings sent by the New Republic to help At Attin. Additionally, seeing the B-Wings actually fire its laser is a live-action first for Star Wars.
  • Parallels To Mandalorian Season 3 & Rogue One – There are a few parallels in the final action sequence as Jod’s ship goes down, both to The Mandalorian season 3, episode 5 and its own pirate battle with the force of Mandalorians on Nevarro (which Vane was also a part of), as well as the more somber music as Jod watches his ship crash feeling like a mirror to the end of Rogue One.
  • Corellian Corvette – A Corellian corvette arrives to offer support once the fighting is done, a classic ship used by the Rebellion and now the New Republic.
  • Final Tablet Page is Kids – The end credits feature various pages from Wim’s tablet, though the final page is of the four kids standing on top of The Onyx Cinder.
