Jim Morrison was a rock icon and heartthrob whose haircut opened a new era. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, The Doors were a hugely successful rock band. They were extremely influential and among the most controversial rock icons while they were active. The band, which consisted of Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore, is still adored by music fans today. Even those unfamiliar with classic rock bands have probably heard of The Doors. Jim Morrison, who is still considered a rock star and a stud, was at the head of this renowned band. He is also a fashion idol for many, and his shoulder-length curly hair is his most famous and imitated look.
Morrison’s hair and its importance
Many people admired Morrison for his poetic creativity and musical ability. But it wasn’t just his music that made waves in the 1960s and 1970s. Morrison’s outrageous hairstyle is in keeping with his reputation as a wild and rebellious musician. Morrison was a vocal opponent of the Vietnam War. He often changed the lyrics or added verses while improvising in the middle of a song. His music and style were practically swimming against the current, and his words were thought provoking.
Poetry and beard
Morrison’s meteoric journey to superstardom has not been without setbacks. He was already using LSD recreationally during the early days of The Doors, and his substance use was exacerbated by his sudden fame. Morrison often performed drunk. The situation further worsened, and he showed erratic behavior on many occasions. He strode onto the stage completely drunk during a concert in Miami in 1969 and began babbling: “You’re all a bunch of [expletive] fools!” You are all a horde of slaves!”

The Doors lead singer then unbuckled his belt to reveal his underpants. He was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, indecent exposure and swearing in August 1970. Morrison tried to distance himself from the superstar lifestyle and left the band in 1971. He moved to Paris with his life partner, Pamela Courson, and began to focus on his songs. Many assumed that he had started growing a beard in an attempt to restore his image as a writer and poet with a message – not just an entertainer. Morrison’s beard was shaved shortly before his death on July 3, 1971. The cause of his death is believed to be a heart attack.
