The Ted Lasso Cast Gets a Barbie Makeover with New Mattel Dolls Inspired by the Show

The uplifting AppleTV+ series — starring Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple — ended its third season in May

After a huge record-breaking success Barbie this summer, Mattel decided to dribble into the world Ted Lasso with a new Barbie collection based on the 11-time Emmy Award-winning AppleTV+ show.

The trio of dolls, based on the characters of Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) are Barbie to perfection.

Barbie managed to pull Ted’s sports uniform over the top, dressing the mini trainer in a blue AFC Richmond tracksuit. His accessories include doll-sized aviator glasses, a whistle around his neck, a soccer ball attached under his arm and a small moustache.

Rebecca’s figure is a true business-casual boss, while Keeley’s glamorous hot pink Barbiecore dress, topped with a black faux fur cape, is in a league of her own.

Each doll retails for $50 on the Mattel Creation website or on Amazon and comes packaged in a collectible box customized for each character.

Mattel previously launched a range of stylish figures based on the Greta Gerwig directorial Barbie movie, gathering its stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Sima Liu, America Ferrera and Issa Rae into their respective Barbies.

In May, Ted Lasso finished its third season, which, unfortunately, could be the last for some.

Rumors that Ted Lasso would stop swirling since Sudeikis said “it was just a way [they] designed” show in July 2021, and it appears that Saturday night live alum’s word is among a select few individuals who can confirm the status of the series’ future.

Executive producer Bill Lawrence revealed to Deadline at the ATX TV Festival in June 2022 that the decision to keep the sports comedy alive rests in the hands of Sudeikis and the show’s producers. However, Sudeikis remained extremely silent on the subject.

While the future remains unknown, Ted Lasso star Brendan Hunt revealed that “it’s not necessarily the end of the series” in an interview with Deadline in March 2023.

“That’s probably the end of this story because we’ve always seen it as a three-part thing,” added the actor who plays Coach Beard. “We were never sure we’d be able to say all three parts — and all of a sudden, here we are. So there’s going to be some kind of closure to this beat, but the ending isn’t necessarily the end.”
