The Watchers Trailer: Dakota Fanning Stars in M. Night Shyamalan’s Daughter Ishana’s Creepy Debut

Dakota Fanning becomes a spectacle for unfamiliar audiences in the chilling first trailer for Observers.

“You can’t see them, but they see everything,” is the tagline of the thriller, which marks the feature directorial debut of daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan, 24. The sixth sense directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Based on the novel by AM Shine, Observers is about 28-year-old Mina (Fanning), an artist who “gets stranded in a vast, untouched forest in the west of Ireland,” according to the synopsis.

“When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly finds herself trapped next to three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures every night.”

The cast also includes Georgina Campbell from BarbarianOliver Finnegan and Olwen Fouere.

M. Night Shyamalan, 53, also the film’s producer, shared a trailer for his daughter’s film on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing Ishana’s trajectory in her film career. She also wrote the screenplay for Observers.

“From making short films, going to @nyutisch school, to becoming one of our best screenwriters/directors at Servant to this amazing #TheWatchers moment in theaters this summer… @ishy_night has always made me very proud. And even better than making a flashy movie, she’s a wonderful person,” he wrote.

Ishana also worked with her dad behind the scenes on his 2021 film Old. The father-daughter duo did an interview with The New York Times at that time to discuss joint cooperation.

“I knew she was going to be a director, but I never pushed her into it. We would watch a movie and she would really relate to what we were watching. She could discern what was extraordinary about what we were watching,” he said at the time. .
