The Young and the Restless Star Trevor St. John Says Farewell to the Soap: 'The Cycle Continues'

Trevor St. John says goodbye to Genoa City for now.

The actor — who portrays billionaire Tucker McCall on the Young and restless — announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) on June 18 that he was leaving the popular CBS soap, surprising many of his followers on the social media platform.

“Dear #YR fans @YandR_CBS @YRInsider #YoungandRestless: As you well know, Tuckers come and Tuckers go, and so the cycle continues…this Tucker is in the boot phase…” he wrote.

In another tweet, the 52-year-old actor also expressed his gratitude The Young and the Restless’ cast, crew and fans.

“Thank you to every member of the wonderful cast, crew, directors, producers and production staff and CBS/Sony for a great experience from day one to day one,” he tweeted. “I feel so lucky to have played such a great role.”

The star also shared her “sincere gratitude” for the soap’s fans.

But while his character may have “disappeared” for now, St. John assured fans that he is “not going anywhere” as he has other projects lined up and encouraged his followers to check out his 2024 drama. good enough day which he also directed.

PEOPLE has reached out to CBS for comment.

St. John has played McCall in over 200 episodes since joining the series in September 2022, stepping into the role previously played by William Russ and Stephen Nichols.

When he first joined Young and restless, Ivan shares with Soap Digest at the time, he was “surprised” and “flattered” to get the part. “Actually, surprised is not a strong enough word. I was more shocked,” he added.

He also told the paper he was delighted to be working with co-star Eileen Davidson, who plays Ashley Abbott in the show.

“She’s super talented and becoming more fearless by the day…she’s interested in the unexpected,” he continued. “She’s a very generous actor and a very generous person — she’s just lovely to work with.”

John’s departure from Young and restless comes a few months after Brian Gaskill’s character Seth Morgan was killed off the show in March after joining the cast this January.

Gaskill, 54, addressed his departure from the series in an Instagram post on March 5.

“I had a great time Young and restless with producers, directors, publicity department and other actors,” he wrote in the caption. “And it’s been amazing to see so much support from all my friends on social media, who have followed me over the years… I’m so thankful for all of you. Now let’s see what happens next…”
