There is NO worse crime than child abuse.
The way gangs of suitors – many of them Asian – prey on vulnerable girls in some of our poorest communities is sickening.

I saw first-hand how these children were being let down when I was the lead prosecutor.
Distrust of working class girls. Or unjustified fears that the jury will not believe them.
Misconceptions about community relationships.
They all played their part in denying justice to these children and leaving the perpetrators free to continue their abuse. That’s a question I’ve dealt with head-on.
My fight to change the way the prosecution operated is a public matter.
Ensure that the people responsible for these despicable acts are brought to justice. Put in dock. Then behind bars.
That’s why I filed the first conspiracy lawsuit.
Far-right voices tried to rewrite history.
Ridiculous claims that Defense Minister Jess Phillips and I are part of the problem, not the solution.
True, Jess has spent her entire life fighting for the safety of women and girls.

The venom being pumped out by the far right should surprise no one.
Those who spread lies and misinformation do not care about the victims.
Those rooting for Tommy Robinson—the thug who was jailed for nearly collapsing a grooming case—are not interested in justice.
They are only interested in themselves.
But that didn’t stop people who should know better from jumping into the movement.
Among them are some of the politicians who had the opportunity to act, but instead sat idly by.
Fail the victims
Of course, we should leave no stone unturned. We should stop at nothing to get to the truth.
A national inquiry into child sexual exploitation was needed.
That’s why one was held.
Seven years of work. Eighteen investigations. A thorough examination of not only what went wrong, but also what needs to happen.
Professor Alexis Jay published the final findings in 2022.
But the Conservative government failed to implement them, failing the victims.
Giving every child the best start in life is a key part of our Plan for Change. That starts with keeping them
Sir Keir Starmer
Now they are calling for another national inquiry. Putting political posturing before protecting children.
But as NSPCC experts told Professor Jay herself, we know what is needed – action, not further delay.
Well, my government works.
One of Professor Jay’s key recommendations was mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse.
This is a measure that I first requested back in 2013. And as Prime Minister, I will implement it.
This government, my government, will put it into law.
This will not only introduce professional sanctions for teachers, social workers, police and others who do not report sexual abuse.
We will also make it a separate criminal offense for anyone who intentionally obstructs a sexual abuse investigation.
It must, and will, include the possibility of prison. Criminals and helpers are also where they belong, in prison.
The protection of institutions can never come before the protection of children.
Mandatory reporting alone will not solve this insidious problem.
We will also ensure that every police force learns the lessons of the past.
I said action, not words, will bring about the change this country needs
Sir Keir Starmer
That is why all 43 will have to improve the collection of data on sexual abuse of children, including the ethnicity of the perpetrator.
We cannot solve this problem until we have an accurate picture of who is involved.
Police forces should spot patterns, target gangs, bring abusers to justice and help victims.
It’s scary, but true, that the groom gangs we know could be the tip of the iceberg.
As many as 500,000 children a year may experience sexual abuse, either at home, online or by these evil gangs.
When I stood on the steps of Downing Street for the first time since the election six months ago, I said that action, not words, would bring about the change this country needed.
Giving every child the best start in life is a key part of our Plan for Change. That starts with keeping them.
It’s something I’ve fought for my whole career.
This is something that this government is fulfilling now.
