The motion illusion was created by a Japanese psychology expert, Professor Akiyoshi Kitaoka.

It is made up of cubes, which are either lime or sea-green coloured.

Next to each shape, is a white or pink plus sign, which helps to create the waving effect.

Gazing into the intricate design is sure to make your vision dance.

If the image doesn’t already make your mind boggle enough, you can intensify the effects of the illusion by moving your cursor up and down the centre of the photo.

It’s not the first optical illusion to sweep the web this year.

In April, a mind-boggling clip completely messed up everyone’s sense of perspective.

In the baffling clip, a trio of lamps hang from the ceiling.

Although initially they look square-shaped, as the camera pans around, it’s revealed that not everything is as it seems.

Lee Lights, created by designer Glen Lewis Steele, cleverly work to trick theeye.

During the footage, the change of camera angle shows that the shape of the lamp-shade isn’t square-like at all.

One of the sides of the cube has been removed, but this isn’t initially visible to viewers due to perspective.

A similar clip, uploaded by illusionist Brasspup, tricked viewers into thinking that these objects were 3D.

In the video that’s been watched over five million times, YouTube users were shocked to discover the items were actually just drawings.

The clever illusionist explained: “There is no trick editing or cuts.

“All of the objects are just prints, except for the objects that are off to the sides.”
