I got lucky in 2014. Just after my breakup, I hit the landlord jackpot, securing an affordable, rent-controlled apartment all to myself. It was a studio, but it was a good size, 450 square feet, with good light – and did I mention that all mine?
One of the downsides of my small apartment (and after ten years it really does feel small) is that it has no storage space. There is no wardrobe and there is only one drawer in the entire space and that is in the kitchen. I’ve done my best with bins under the bed and couch, accent tables with drawers, and limited cabinet space in my bathroom and kitchen, but there’s always a bunch of stuff floating around with nowhere to go.
In my latest shopping spree for storage solutions, I came across some kind of stackable storage compartment that I had never seen before. It could almost pass as furniture, with its bifold front doors and textured clear panels.
Sineda Containers with Lids in Green, 4-Pack, $125 (Save 26%)
Amazon
Buy on Amazon $170 $125 I’m a store editor and my latest obsession is this hidden Amazon spot for affordable homewares
After a few hours of browsing the options on Amazon, I’m going with a four-pack of this green option from Sineda in the 8.4 gallon size. I will stack them two by two in my entryway to create a low console to house all the things that never have a place to be.
I really like that the clear plastic is creased, so you can get an idea of what’s inside without the messy look that all-clear storage boxes give. And the system is modular, so you can rearrange, add more containers, and even fold the containers for compact storage when not in use.

Another big plus for me is the setup: they just snap together. “I’ve never come across anything so easy to put together,” said a customer who liked that no tools or hardware were required.
“This is the first time in my nearly 53 years on this planet that I’ve gotten excited about a storage container,” wrote one reviewer, who explained that they move every year for work and were shopping for something that would make “the place feel like home”, but it would be easy to move. They said that the installation was simple and recommended them to people who are not so transient. “You can put something on top, it really fits and there’s a lot of space.”
While Sineda Storage Bins aren’t the cheapest option, I’ve learned in a decade of small space shopping that it pays to buy something you want and will keep, rather than a cheap eyesore to replace. Continue reading for more style options starting at $36.
