“American Idol” contestant Ashley Hess commented, “I wish I could go back to that girl from Fremont, California, who loved to sing but thought there was no way it was going to happen, and say, ‘Yeah, she can. ‘”Although Ashley Hess’ journey ended with her placing in the top 14, it was still a journey she could only imagine growing up in Fremont.
