Colin Egglesfield – who struggled with cancer three times – shares it at first, told no one about the disease until he “broke” on the set.
The actor was first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2006, six months after he landed in the role of Josh Madden on All my kids; As Egglesfield, who is now 52, shared while hosting episodes on March 20. Initially, Egglesfield said he did not share a diagnosis with his associates, explaining that he had undergone radiation after surgery in secret, after being set all day. But when his shooting schedule changed – putting his scenes in the afternoon, “I scheduled my radiation treatment for the morning, so I went to it, and then I went to work.”
“I started to feel tired, slow, just sweaty and hot, and tried to make my scenes,” said Egglesfield. “Then the director approached me and said, ‘Colin, are you okay? You don’t look so good. “And I broke down immediately because I realized I couldn’t hold him anymore.”
The actor shared that he had kept his treatment secret for three months. “I didn’t tell anyone at work … these are guys, it’s a testicular cancer. And I finally realized I couldn’t do it myself. I had to tell people.”
