Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado are back!
16 years since their hit 2007 collaboration “Give It to Me,” the trio released a new single on Friday, an upbeat tune called “Keep Going Up,”
“Here’s ⬆️🆙💕 ‘Keep Going Up’! Now available everywhere @timbaland @justintimberlake,” Furtado, 44, wrote on Instagram while sharing a clip of the track, while Timbaland, 51,’s Instagram post read: “Let me be your DJ this Labor Day weekend🔥🚀 🔊 THE SONG IS OUT NOW 🎶 we’re finally here!”
The song captures the pinnacle of the celebratory positive energy one feels when one finds happiness after a personal struggle. “My new life is so much better than my old life,” Furtado sings on the song. “I’m laughing now, remember I was broken.”
“I keep goin’, I keep goin’, I keep goin’ up,” Timberlake, 42, and Furtado harmonize the catchy refrain.
There’s also a reference to Furtado and Timbaland’s hit “Promiscuous” in the new song. In a nod to his “How you doing, young lady? That feeling you’re really driving me crazy,” opening line from the 2006 song, Timbaland begins “Keep Going Up” by asking, “How you doing young lady? Is that feeling still driving you crazy?” “

Timbaland on Justin Timberlake’s ‘Justified’ 20 years after release: ‘I’m part of history’
Along with the song, the trio released a music video for the song’s visuals on Friday, made up of shots of Timbaland, Timberlake and Furtado in the recording studio.
The behind-the-scenes clip captured each performer behind the microphone, with Furtado in a dark denim jacket, white crop top and gold chain. Timbaland and Timberlake were delighted with T-shirts and caps.
Even though they’re all on the song together, the three of them weren’t in the same room to do it. Furtado arranged her vocals remotely, while her male collaborators were together in another space around the world.

This did not mean that the three did not see each other. The visualizer finished Timbaland FaceTiming Furtado and surprised her by turning the phone to Timberlake.
“Oh my god! Woah, what’s going on?” gasped Furtado, to which Timberlake replied, “What’s up, killa?”
“What! No way. How are you? This is crazy,” Furtado said at the end of the video.

In August, Timbaland revealed that “Keep Going Up” would be released on September 1st.
Timbaland has previously produced for Furtado, such as her 2006 track “Say It Right.” He also produced many of Timberlake’s singles such as his 2002 “Cry My A River” and 2006’s “My Love.” He also worked with the former *NSYNC member on his 2018 album. Man from the forest, and his upcoming album.
