Tirthanand Rao is an Indian actor, comedian and parody artist best known for mocking Indian actor Nana Patekar. He twice tried to end his life by taking poison, in 2021 and 2023; however, he survived both times.

suicide attempt
First suicide attempt in 2021
On December 27, 2021, he tried to commit suicide by taking poison; however, his neighbor found out about it and sent him to the hospital, where doctors revived him. After his recovery, he said he took the extreme step because of financial problems.
Second suicide attempt in 2023
On June 14, 2023, Tirthanand Rao attempted suicide by taking benzene during a Facebook live broadcast. He said in a live broadcast that his live-in partner threatened him with filing a false rape case against him. Some of his friends informed the police, who went to his apartment and found him unconscious and took him to hospital, where doctors saved him. After recovering, he said his common-law partner had two daughters and lived with them. He later discovered that his partner was also a prostitute, so he wanted to break up with her; however, she began to threaten him, so he too had to sleep on the sidewalk. He said,
Because of this woman, I owe a debt of three to four hundred thousand rupees. I’ve known her since last October. She filed a police complaint against me in Bayendar but I don’t even know why. Then she would also call me and say she wanted to meet. I met a woman. She has two daughters. We also live together. During the course of the relationship I learned that she was a prostitute. I want to get rid of her. However, the woman started threatening me. Instead, she filed a lawsuit against me. I’ve been running away from it for a long time because of this fear. I couldn’t go home for days and was forced to sleep on the sidewalk. I’m fed up with it all and that’s why I’m suicidal. ”

- In 2016, famous Indian comedian Kapil Sharma invited him to work in The Kapil Sharma Show; but he declined as he was filming a movie at the time.
