Reese Witherspoon recently took a deep dive into her personal approach to life’s challenges during an intimate conversation on Today’s show with hosts Hoda Kotba and Jenna Bush-Hager.
This candid discussion comes amid her ongoing promotion of the sequel to her children’s book, Busy Betty.
The acclaimed 47-year-old Legally Blonde actress has been on a transformative journey, especially after her surprise split from Jim Toth.
Reflecting on her ‘new chapter’ in her life, Reese said: “I’m really proud of the life decisions I’ve made, and I’ve made them with kindness and grace.”
She emphasized the universality of life’s roller coaster, saying, “Everyone goes through ups and downs, but [about] how do you deal with them.”

Emphasizing the essence of empathy and understanding, Reese shared her unique perspective on interactions. “I always think about everyone I talk to like, ‘What were they like when they were five?’ Is that the person I’m talking to now, you five-year-old?”
In March, Reese and her 53-year-old ex-husband Jim took the entertainment world by storm when they announced their decision to separate after nearly 12 years of marriage.

Although Reese has refrained from publicly discussing the split, her social media has become an inspiration to many. Fans often seek comfort in the positive messages and wise advice she spreads.
When the hosts drew parallels between Reese and acclaimed self-help author Melanie Ribbons, Reese expressed her gratitude: “I love her so much. It means so much to me.” She elaborated on the origins of her advice-sharing on Instagram, explaining how people who grew up watching her often turn to her for guidance.

One particularly poignant piece of wisdom Reese shared was something she learned from her grandmother about the art of cutting someone’s ties: “She was very perceptive. She didn’t spend time with people who pulled her down.”
Reese further clarified, “We all know people who drain your energy, make you feel bad. You have to cut those people down. Your time is precious… You have to save your energy for the people who lift you up.”
The timeline of Reese and Jim’s relationship goes back to 2010, culminating in a sincere engagement in December of the same year.

Their romance was strengthened by a beautiful wedding in the yard in 2011. Unfortunately, just before their 12th anniversary, they announced their separation.
By August, the two had reached an agreement on their divorce and promised to raise their son, Tennessee, together. Reese also shares two children, Deacon and Ava, with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.
In the lighter moments of the conversation, Reese revealed her newfound passion for drawing by numbers. “It’s like a puzzle,” she commented, adding that the pastime calms her down and provides a refreshing break from her hectic routine. “Just focus and calm your nervous system. It was a lot of fun,” she noted.
In addition to promoting children’s books, Reese continues to win hearts as Bradley Jackson on the acclaimed “The Morning Show” on Apple TV Plus. Fans eagerly await the new episodes that are released every Wednesday on the platform.
