Today Show's Dylan Dreyer Weighs in on Hoda Kotb's Possible Replacement

Dylan Dreyer is one of the many who can’t wait to find out who will replace Hoda Kotba Today.

On September 26, Kotb announced that she would be stepping down from her duties as co-host of the long-running morning show. The news of her departure shocked loyal fans and raised the question of who will step up and take over as host?

While she considers Kotba, 60, “heart and soul Today’s show,” Dreyer said of who she thinks could be her replacement after she steps down from her role. Third class today cohost, 43, told E! News that anyone from her “family” of co-stars — including Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, Carson Daly and Weekend today hosts Peter Alexander and Laura Jarrett — would be perfect for the job.

“I don’t think it would be surprising if they appointed someone from our core group of people,” she admitted. “We all filled in along the way when someone was out. I don’t know if anyone has made any decisions yet, but if it’s someone from the core group, I really don’t think it’s that surprising.”

When asked if she would be considered for the role, Dreyer joked, “Everybody knows I’m trying to get Al Roker to retire, let’s be honest.”

The forecaster also admitted that the news of Kotb’s exit was a complete surprise.

“As I write this, my heart is all over the map,” she wrote. “I know I’m making the right decision, but it’s painful. And you’re all the reason why. They say two things can be right at the same time, and I feel that deeply right now. I love you and it’s time for me to leave the show.”

“My television career has been beyond the pale, a new decade of my life is upon us, and now my daughters and my mom need and deserve a bigger slice of my time,” she continued. “I’m going to miss you all desperately, but I’m ready and excited.”

Kotb is set to end her duties in early 2025, but she will still “remain in the NBC family.”
