Tom Cruise to Star in Next Movie from The Revenant Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu 

Tom Cruise takes on Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s next film.

On Thursday, a representative for Cruise, 61, confirmed to PEOPLE that the actor will star in the upcoming film.

For now, plot details are being kept under wraps. The only thing known about the project are the writers: Iñárritu, Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolás Giacobone. The director, Giacobone and Dinelaris previously worked on the Oscar winner in 2014. A birder.

The Hollywood Reporter was the first to confirm the news, adding that Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment in negotiations to take over the project, s Deadline coverage Cruise will produce alongside Legendary.

The last English-language film that Iñárritu directed was Returnee with Leonardo DiCaprio in 2015.

Cruise signed a strategic deal with Warner Bros. last month, where he will work with executives Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy on original and franchise projects.

Cruise has a lot on his plate. In January, THR reported that Cruise may be on board for a Top Gun 3 after success Top Gun: Maverick, written by Christopher McQuarrie, Eric Singer and Ehren Kruger.
