Tom Keifer was born in Pennsylvania, United States, on January 26, 1961. His family was also involved in music, so he started playing the guitar at a young age. He quickly fell in love with the blues and was greatly influenced. In high school, he joined his first rock band. During high school, he struggled with drug and alcohol abuse and considered dropping out of school to pursue his dreams.
But his mother Adrienne stopped him from bribing him by promising him a Gibson Les Paul guitar after graduation. After graduating, he got what his mother wanted and began performing in various bands, including Saints In Hell, Telepath and Diamonds.

He began to fully focus and concentrate on himself as a musician after overcoming his addiction to drugs and alcohol. He quickly formed CINDERELLA, his own hard rock band, with good friend and bassist Eric Brittingham.

Derek Schulman eventually signed the band after John Bon Jovi, who had seen them perform at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia in 1985, persuaded his Mercury A&R manager Derek Schulman to sign them.
Since then, his career as a musician has flourished. NGIHT SONGS, LONG COLD WINTER and HEARTBREAK STATION were big hits for them. It was an exciting time for him. He enjoyed being the band’s songwriter. After THE HEARTBREAK STATION, he lost his voice due to paralysis of the left vocal cord. After this incident, the band managed to release their fourth album STILL CLIMBING, but it did not capture the attention of the public and did not become a hit.
The band then broke up in 1995. Keifer continued to have surgeries and did everything he could to heal. Besides the operations, he started writing songs for a solo album. The whole band reformed in 1997 and began touring in 1998. They released ONCE UPON A and a live album, LIVE AT THE KEY CLUB, which was a huge success.
