Tommy Haas started playing tennis when he was four years old. He trained alone, hitting balls against the wall or into his father’s hands with a wooden board. In 1996, he turned professional and competed in his first Grand Slam in the United States. However, in the first round he was defeated in four sets by compatriot Michael Stitch. He also has four ATP titles under his belt, including his first Master’s trophy in 2001.
