Her husband Karl shared sweet pictures with the tribute
Her husband Karl Sundgren paid tribute to his “beautiful” wife on Facebook.
He wrote: “Our beautiful Abbie passed away peacefully yesterday, surrounded by loved ones.
“She fought hard with so much strength and grace for over 4 years and can finally rest.
Abbie was so strong, and her infectious smile will forever be in our hearts.
Abbie was stolen in July 1994 by a woman posing as a nurse when she was just three hours old.
Her desperate parents Karen and Roger spent 16 days searching for her before she was found.
Karen said, “Whoever took our baby, can you please give her back.”
Abbie was found after police received a tip that former dental nurse Julie Kelley had arrived home with the girl.
The neighbors knew that she was pregnant, but expecting a boy, so they became suspicious.
She was found in the suburb of Wollaton after an intensive media campaign.
Kelley later pleaded guilty to kidnapping baby Abbie.
She received three years of probation and was treated for a severe personality disorder.
Kelley faked her pregnancy to convince her boyfriend not to leave, it was reported at the time.
She went on to have a family of her own and Abbie had no idea she was abducted until she was 10 years old.

Abbie married her teenage love, Karla
The drama ‘The Secrets She Keeps’ aired in 2020 and was inspired by Abbie’s kidnapping.
It wasn’t until the age of 26 that Abbie realized the full weight of her own ordeal.
She revealed her kidnapping story during the move, including a message from Princess Diana.
Her family, who moved to New Zealand, has been haunted by tragedy ever since.
Her mother Karen died of breast cancer in 2020 before Abbie was diagnosed herself the following year.
Abbie previously said: “We’ve just had an awful lot of bad luck.
“I usually choose to look on the positive side of everything. It makes everyone feel better.”
Abbie excelled as a swimmer, worked as a flight attendant and computer scientist before marrying her teenage boyfriend, Karl.
She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2021 and was given months to live.
Abbie survived four more.
