Officers arrested Nicholas Prospero, 18, and charged him with three counts of murder, as well as a number of firearms offences.

Locally, he is called the son of Mrs. Prosper and the brother of the children of the victims.

Officers were called to reports of a “concern for welfare” at 5.30am before finding the three victims at a flat in the Leabank area.

Nicholas Prosper has been remanded in custody ahead of his appearance at Luton Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

A family friend told Sky News: “Juliana lived for her children. She was a positive person who will be terribly missed.”

Lea Manor High School headteacher Jess Pather paid tribute to 13-year-old Giselle.

She said: “We are deeply shocked at Lea Manor High School by the tragic incident which took place in our local community on Friday.

“We are devastated by the loss of our student, Giselle Prosper. Giselle was a beautiful soul and an exemplary student.

“She excelled in all her subjects and will be sorely missed, especially by her friends in Year 9.”

Ms Pather added: “It will take us all the time to process what has happened.

“Our thoughts go out to everyone in our community and neighboring schools who are affected.”

Detective Constable Rob Hall said: “Our thoughts are first and foremost with the three people who sadly lost their lives yesterday and their loved ones.

“While formal identification has yet to be carried out, the next of kin of those we believe to have died have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“We would ask that their privacy be respected at this unimaginably difficult time.

“After we discovered three bodies yesterday, we immediately sent several officers to the scene.

“Shortly afterwards they arrested an 18-year-old man, who has now been charged with three counts of murder, as well as a number of firearm offences.

“I would like to commend all the officers who have participated in this investigation so far, especially those who were the first on the scene.

“They faced such horrific circumstances and worked around the clock to establish the details surrounding these tragic deaths.

“Officers will remain at the scene for the next few days while we continue our investigation.

“We will also have additional community officers in and around the area to keep members of the public safe at this difficult time.”
