Mindy Kaling is saying goodbye to lip gloss.
At this week’s Tory Burch show at New York Fashion Week, the 45-year-old actress, writer and producer said that makeup and motherhood don’t really mix.
“I don’t wear lip gloss anymore because it gets in my hair too much,” Kaling told PEOPLE at an event on Monday, Sept. 9. “If I’m in a rush with the kids – it just spreads all over my body. So these days it works like a lip balm for me.”
Aside from lip products, Kaling makes sure she has one item on her at all times during Fashion Week: “My Tide Stick.”
At an exhibition held at The Skylight at the Refinery in Brooklyn, The Office alum wore a beige striped button-up top with brown pants and brown pointe shoes. She wore a light brown textured coat and carried a beige purse.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Kaling also shared that her daughter Anne is learning to crawl. “My baby is like she can’t crawl yet, but she’s trying,” Kaling said. “It’s like she’s turning. She’s motionless, but she really wants to move.” “And I said, ‘No, not yet!’ I like that she can’t move that much,” the star continues, “It’s like she’s nice and easy to look at.”

In a June 2024 Instagram post, Kaling announced that she welcomed Anne in February. She is also mother to daughter Katherine Swati, 6, and son Spencer Avu, 4.

As for bringing her kids to fashion events, the star says she currently thinks only her oldest child “could appreciate it.”

“My son prefers the truck vibe,” the mom of three continued. “So unless Tory liked the cooperation with the trucks, I think he might lose it.”
Earlier this month, Kaling celebrated her son Spencer’s fourth birthday with Cars– theme party.
The special day included an outdoor obstacle course and a themed birthday cake.
“Happy birthday to my number one, Spencer Kaling (who woke up this morning saying, ‘I had a great night’s sleep and now I’m four!’) 🚗🚗🚗,” The Mindy Project the alum wrote on Instagram.
