Say it ain’t so, Travis Barker won’t be going — to the 2023 VMAs.
The Blink-182 drummer didn’t attend the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, despite a nomination for best alternative music video for the band’s song “Edging” — but he had a good reason for skipping.
Barker, 47, missed the opportunity to receive the Moon Person trophy as he is currently in Europe, thousands of miles away from the awards, which were held at The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

The legendary rocker is currently in the middle of a world tour with his band Blink-182, along with bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge.
Barker shared a snap of his bike ride along the water in the Danish capital on his Instagram Story on Tuesday, with the caption: “Me ❤️Copenhagen.” He also reposted a video of himself performing on tour, drumming on a platform suspended above the stage.

Blink-182’s 2023 nod for “Edging” is the band’s seventh VMA nomination. The win ended up going to Måneskin for the video for their song “The Loneliest”.
Of their seven accolades, the band took home only one Moon Person trophy. More than two decades ago, at the 2000 VMAs, they won Best Group Video for “All the Small Things” and performed an iconic performance of the hit song.
More recently, Barker attended the 2020 awards, where he both presented and performed the preshow with Machine Gun Kelly and Blackbear.

Although Barker did not leave the tour to attend the VMAs, the “All the Small Things” rockers postponed some of their European tour dates earlier this month.
The drummer had to leave the UK leg of the tour to rush home due to an “urgent family matter”, the band announced on Instagram. It was later revealed that Barker had left to be with his pregnant wife Kourtney Kardashian as she underwent emergency fetal surgery.
Both Kardashian, 44, and Barker opened up about the terrifying experience via separate social media posts.

The drummer shared a tweet about the situation, writing, “God is great. I flew home for our baby’s life-threatening emergency surgery and I’m so thankful she went well.”
“I want to say thank you for all the support,” he continued, adding that Blink-182 will hit the road again on Friday.
“I will forever be grateful to my amazing doctors for saving our baby’s life,” Kardashian wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her and her rocker husband holding hands at the hospital.
“I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterward, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this,” she wrote.

The The Kardashians star continued: “As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I was unprepared for the fear of emergency fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of dread

“I have a whole new understanding and respect for moms who had to fight for their babies while they were pregnant.”
“Glory be to God. Leaving the hospital with my little son in my tummy and safe was a real blessing 🙏🏼🤍”, she finished the post.
