Travis Kelce and the Chiefs Win New Year’s Eve Game, Division Title as Taylor Swift Cheers Him On

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs won Sunday afternoon’s matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals to clinch the AFC West title as Taylor Swift cheered on her man from the suite at Arrowhead Stadium. Kelce, 34, made a 16-yarder to help lead his team to the win as Swift, also 34, watched along with family and friends of the team.

The Chiefs beat the Bengals by a final score of 25-17, despite not having the best start to the game. By halftime, the Chiefs were losing primarily due to the Chiefs’ defensive strategy, which prevented the Bengals from scoring after halftime.

The two-time Super Bowl winner and the “Blank Space” singer have been dating since late summer. Rumors of a new romance heated up after Swift started showing up at Kelce’s games with her parents in late September. Swift and Kelce began dating in October between their busy schedules — the “Lavender Haze” singer is coming off the theatrical release of her Film Eras Tour and Kelce is in the middle of the 2023 NFL season — and Swift was spotted on Instagram kissing Kelce on the cheek, which fueled speculation that their relationship was getting more serious. Indeed, he did, a source told PEOPLE later that month.

“It’s quickly becoming more serious. They share a strong work ethic and have a strong appreciation for life and their careers, a strong family bond and values,” the source said. Kelce is also “sweet, goofy and just awesome,” the source added.

Then in November, Kelce traveled to Argentina to attend Swift’s Era Tour with her father. During the performance, Swift cheered Kelce as she changed the lyrics of her latest song “Karma” to “Karma’s a guy from the Chiefs coming straight to my house,” prompting Kelce to break into a big smile. And afterwards, Swift ran off the stage into Kelce’s arms before the kiss was caught on camera. “He’s a gentleman,” a source told PEOPLE of the NFL star at the time. “He is very focused on his career. He has a great relationship with his family. He has an amazing energy and approach to life.” The insider added: “Everything feels very special.”

Earlier this month, Swift opened up Time magazine about her romance with Kelce and revealed how it all began. During the interview, she revealed how her romance with Kelce came about, saying that “it all started when Travis very sweetly put me on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.”

“Right after that we started hanging out,” Swift added. “So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew about, which I’m grateful for, because we got to meet each other.” Swift has since been spotted at most of Kelce’s games, often sitting with other player partners, like Brittany Mahomes or Kelce’s mother Donna, one of PEOPLE’s 25 Most Intriguing People of the Year.

Swift, who topped PEOPLE’s list of the 25 Most Intriguing People of 2023, was also at Kelce’s game last week on Christmas Day.
