Tristan Stubbs is a South African cricketer who serves as the wicketkeeper for the Proteas (South Africa’s national cricket team). He made his debut for the South Africa national team in June 2022 in a T20I against India.

He grew up in Johannesburg watching his father play hockey, which instilled in him a love of sport. He trained at Knysna Sports School (now known as Knysna Sports Academy) under coach Robin Abbott. Previously, Stubbs served as captain of the Port Elizabeth Gray High School cricket team. He played for the SA Schools XI and SA A teams. Stubbs made his debut for Eastern Province on 16 January 2020 during the 2019-20 CSA 3-day Provincial Cup. He made his debut for Eastern Province Group A on 16 February 2020 at the 2019-20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. He performed well in the domestic T20 challenge. He made his T20 debut on 21 February 2021 in the 2020-21 CSA T20 Challenge, while playing for the Warriors, a Division 1 cricket team representing the Eastern Cape in South Africa’s domestic competition. During the game, Stubbs scored 102 points, averaging 34 points per game and shooting 127.5 points, which was an impressive performance for a rookie.

In May 2022, Stubbs was named in the South Africa T20I squad for the series against India, his first call-up to the national team. Tristan Stubbs made his T20I debut against India at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 9 June 2022; South Africa finished with 7 wickets win. He made his ODI debut on 18 March 2023 against the West Indies at Buffalo Park, East London. He was part of the South African team that won the Vitality IT20 series against England in 2022.

In May 2022, Mumbai Indians purchased Stubbs for INR 2 million to participate in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) to replace Taimar Mills who was absent due to injury. After being signed as a replacement, he scored just two runs in two innings for Mumbai.
