Tristan Stubbs is a South African cricketer who serves as the wicketkeeper for the Proteas (South Africa’s national cricket team). He made his debut for the South Africa national team in June 2022 in a T20I against India.

Tristan Stubbs was born on Monday, August 14, 2000 (22 years old in 2022) from Knysna, South Africa. Earlier, the Stubbs family lived in Hanedoo, Johannesburg. His zodiac sign is Leo.
He grew up in Johannesburg watching his father play hockey, which instilled in him a love of sport. He has been fond of sports since he was a child, playing hockey in the winter, cricket in the summer, and golf whenever there was a major golf event on TV. He trained at Knysna Sports School (now known as Knysna Sports Academy) under coach Robin Abbott. He was a member of the Eastern Province (EP) U19 team of the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Weeks 2017 and 2018. He captained the EP U19 team at the 2018 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week in Cape Town and led them to a 22-point win, partnering with Luke Beaufort to contribute 105 points.
Previously, Stubbs served as captain of the Port Elizabeth Gray High School cricket team. He played for the SA Schools XI and SA A teams. Stubbs made his debut for Eastern Province on 16 January 2020 during the 2019-20 CSA 3-day Provincial Cup. He made his debut for Eastern Province Group A on 16 February 2020 at the 2019-20 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge. He performed well in the domestic T20 challenge. He made his T20 debut on 21 February 2021 in the 2020-21 CSA T20 Challenge, while playing for the Warriors, a Division 1 cricket team representing the Eastern Cape in South Africa’s domestic competition. During the game, Stubbs scored 102 points, averaging 34 points per game and shooting 127.5 points, which was an impressive performance for a rookie.
He was named in the Eastern Province squad ahead of South Africa’s 2021-22 cricket season. He is part of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape winning team for the 2022-23 SA20 season.
International
In May 2022, Stubbs was named in the South Africa T20I squad for the series against India, his first call-up to the national team. Tristan Stubbs made his T20I debut against India at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on 9 June 2022; South Africa finished with 7 wickets win. He made his ODI debut on 18 March 2023 against the West Indies at Buffalo Park, East London. He was part of the South African team that won the Vitality IT20 series against England in 2022.
During the third and final T20I between England and South Africa at Southampton, Stubbs made a one-handed save and caught England’s Moeen Ali, a move that was criticized by England The Cricket Association called it “one of the best catches you’ll ever see” on Twitter.

Indian Premier League (IPL)
In May 2022, Mumbai Indians purchased Stubbs for INR 2 million to participate in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) to replace Taimar Mills who was absent due to injury. After being signed as a replacement, he scored just two runs in two innings for Mumbai.
He was bought again by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023. On December 19, 2023, he was acquired by Delhi Capitals in the 2024 IPL auction for Rs. 50 lakhs; auction held at Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai.
