True Lies, CBS’s upcoming television series, will premiere on March 1, 2023 at 9:00 p.m. ET. The long-awaited sequel to the 1994 film of the same name starring Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the first season of the action film will feature four segments that will be released once a week in March.
According to the official synopsis of the show:
“When an unsatisfied suburban housewife discovers that her meek and unremarkable computer consultant husband is a skilled international spy, she is thrust into a life full of dangerous and adventurous when recruited to work alongside him to save the world as they attempt to revive their passionate marriage.”

After nearly thirty years, James Cameron’s 1994 masterpiece, True Lies, was finally adapted into a television series of the same name. The spy action film received rave reviews at the time and currently has a 7.3-star rating on IMDb. Here’s an excerpt from a featured review on the Wikipedia page from 2004:
“True Lies is mostly fun and entertaining, with an excellent storyline! Finally a movie where I can say: “The money is well spent!” The action really jumps off the screen but never feels overdone or forced, thanks to the experience of action director James Cameron.”
According to reviews, the film has “everything an action-horror movie could ask for”. A believable action hero, some fireworks, chases, gunfights, fun and a cliché enemy are part of this. With the 2023 release, the excitement has reached new heights. However, CBS series director Steve Harvey said that the new version is not a copy of the original picture.
In an interview with Screen Rant, he said that they have no intention of following in the footsteps of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. He said it was a timeless masterpiece. Harvey also said that they intend to do something different for them, but will certainly be inspired by the moniker. He added that they have a “great ensemble,” with Ginger Gonzaga playing Curtis and Owen Miller playing Tom Arnold.
CBS True Lies: Story Briefing
The new series follows the lives of Harry (Steve Howey) and Helen (Ginger Gonzaga), an emotionally separated couple. Helen is a connoisseur of languages, and Harry is a first-class foreign agent of the American spy organization Omega. When she learns that her husband is not as normal as he seems, everything begins to fall apart.
When a great secret is revealed, Omega invites Helen to join Harry and his crew in covert operations around the world. However, their thrilling feats remain a mystery to their three teenage children. Once the missions are completed, their new relationship offers some comfort in their turbulent marriage. In addition to Howey and Gonzaga, True Lies (2023) stars Omar Miller as the title character, with Erica Hernandez, Annabella Didion, and Mike O’Gorman in supporting roles. Anthony Hemingway directed the True Lies series, written by Matt Nix and executive produced by Cameron.
