Hilaria Baldwin Addresses Backlash Over Her Accent Controversy: 'The Whole World Was Mean to Me'

Hilaria Baldwin talks about the return shot she received over her accent.

In the episode of March 16 BaldwinsHilaria, 41, was thinking about learning to change her emphasis long before she caused a controversy in 2020 when people questioned the authenticity of their Spanish descent.

“Growing up the way you have multiple cultural impact on yourself means you will never be able to fit in. You can try,” she said. “You can chameleon. You know, people who move codes, we are very good at chameleonation … and you don’t think you don’t even think about it. That’s quite normal. It’s just natural.”

Hilaria Baldwin says she is still ‘hurt’ because of a false controversy: Being bilingual ‘does not make me inauthentic’

During the interview with his daughter’s 15-year-old sister Carmen Gabriel, the television figure liked the experience of “switching the code”-or to adopt someone’s accent or mannerism to fit social norms-divorce with an older person.

In the confessional, her mother was thinking about how she learned to take over controversy.

“Being in the spotlight, how people like to call him. People say,” Oh, don’t you get used to it? “No, you don’t get used to it,” she said. “You never get used to people to be malicious. But you take a deep breath and I think you learn to distance yourself from it, and so, you know, you just try to reject the volume in my head a little … And I won’t figure it out in person.”

The conversation about Hilary’s heritage began in December 2020. When the users of social media claimed that Hilaria invented her Spanish roots when she was actually born in Boston, Massachusetts, and her birth is Hilary.

“I saw that chattering online, questioning my identity and culture. This is something I take very seriously, and for those who ask-I will make my story, as I did many times,” she wrote at the time, along with a deleted, seven-minute video. “I was born in Boston and grew up spending time with my family between Massachusetts and Spain. My parents and brothers live in Spain, and I chose to live here in the US”

“I love English, I love Spanish too, and when I mix them, it doesn’t make me inauthentic, and when I mix the two, it makes me normal,” she noticed in the confessional. “I would lie if I had said [the controversy] I didn’t saddened me and it didn’t hurt and he didn’t put me in dark places. ”

“But these were my family, my friends, my community who speak more languages, who belonged to more places and realize that we are a combination of all these different things and that will affect how we sound and the impact on how we articulate things and words we choose and our manners,” she continued.

“That’s normal,” she added. “It’s called to be human.”
