The upcoming Hallmark trilogy will give fans all the feels of another cozy watch favorite.
During PEOPLE + Hallmark’s countdown to the Sexiest Man Alive event on Thursday, Oct. 3, Tyler Hynes told TV & Events Executive Editor Breanna L. Heldman that Godfathers movie the trilogy resembles a favorite series, Sex and the city.
Asked what it was like working on “a gay love story that’s a friends-to-lovers story on Hallmark,” Hynes, 38, said, “It’s not Sex in the citybut somehow it feels Sex and the city for guys, which I realized by looking Sex and the city when I was in Europe and I said, ‘Oh, we’re doing it.'”
The Three wise men and a baby the actor also addressed the importance of friendship in the upcoming trilogy, which was also the main theme of the hit HBO series. He explained, “It distills that dynamic of our chosen family, which many of us now experience away from our family, probably living in New York, or at home, wherever.”

“Your friends become your family. They become the people who hold you through all these moments in our lives,” he continued. “He’s getting that feeling while he’s doing it, telling a very beautiful, diverse group of stories with a really diverse cast and doing it seriously without feeling like there’s a plan,” he added of the upcoming trilogy.
Hynes is acting Groom films with Jonathan Bennett and BJ Britt.
The trilogy will chronicle “the lives and romantic relationships of three best friends of diverse backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientations — Pete (Britt), a good-natured pediatrician with a penchant for planning; Danny (Bennett), a former athlete with a heart of gold; and Jackson (Hynes), a stylish and charming social media agent — each finds love and wedded bliss in picturesque locations in Greece, Italy and Bulgaria,” according to the official synopsis.

Bennett, 43, told PEOPLE at San Diego Com-Con in July that he Godfathers trilogy is “the first time we’ve had a gay wedding on Hallmark as a main story.”
“Playing the character of Danny in Groom — we’re not only telling a story about friendship and love, but…we’re telling a story about a wedding,” Mean girls the actor explained.
“This is the first time we’ve had a gay wedding on Hallmark as a main story,” he added. “And it’s a big step for the gay community to be able to see themselves represented in these stories.”

The Godfathers films will premiere in October, with Groom: first look October 17 Groom: Second Chance October 24 and The Groom: The Last Dance October 31 — all on Hallmark+.
