Tyra Banks is celebrating her 60th anniversary Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in style.
The supermodel, 50, visited the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City on Thursday (May 16) to celebrate the magazine’s anniversary issue featuring her on the cover.
Banks walked the red carpet wearing a sexy double-breasted blazer with metallic magenta accents on the lapel and buttons. She combined the classy piece with tight black pants and pointed heels. Her signature light brown hair was worn down in voluminous waves.

For this year’s anniversary, there are an incredible seven covers shot by photographer Yu Tsai. Chrissy Teigen, Gayle King, Hunter McGrady and Kate Upton each have their own, while the three group shots feature legends from Christie Brinkley and Molly Sims to Martha Stewart and Pauline Porizkova.
The supermodel made history way back in 1996 when she became the first black model to wear the cover SI. In this latest “Legendary” cover, Banks reflected on what it meant for her to break this barrier.

“What does being an SI Swimsuit Legend mean to me? Breaking down doors so other people can come through,” she told the magazine.
“28 years ago I made history as the first black model to grace the cover of @si_swimsuit,” she wrote in an Instagram post, alongside a video of her posing for the cover. “And today I’m honored to be called a LEGEND and an ICON on this year’s 60th anniversary cover. When you’re older, what do you hope to be a legend?”

MJ Day, Editor-in-Chief Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, said in a press release that the goal of the 60th anniversary celebration is to continue to challenge the status quo, while also paying tribute to the women who have made strides to bring the magazine to where it is today.

“Over the past 60 years, we’ve broken down stereotypes, embraced diversity and championed inclusivity,” said MJ Day in the press release. “With each passing year, we challenged ourselves to push the boundaries and redefine what it means to be Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.”
“While this year’s edition is a tribute to the recent past, it is also a reminder of the work we must continue to do,” she continued. “We need to remind women to challenge the status quo, to celebrate strength and confidence, and to inspire those around us to embrace their uniqueness and fearlessly follow their passions.”
