The fight was advertised as an exhibition. However, this is no longer the case after the rule change.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) has now officially sanctioned the fight.
This means that the fight will go into the professional records of both Fury and Ngannou.
However, despite the fight now being professional, it does not appear that Fury’s WBC belt will be on the line.
Fans reacted to the news by taking to social media.
One tweeted: “Just to improve our anger record a bit more.”
Another wrote: “The fight still doesn’t make sense but ok.”
A third said: “Totally agree. If Mayweather/McGregor could, I don’t see why they wouldn’t.”

A fourth added, “No words.”
Another asked: “How can it be a sanctioned fight but Fury’s belt is not on the line?”
Fans were also left angry after Fury’s poor attempt to sell the fight at the PPV.
The British boxer claimed that he would quickly defeat Ngannou, and many wanted to get their way.

“It’s like the table tennis champion facing Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.”
It is understood Fury will earn around £65million for his crossover bout with Ngannou.
Then he is ready to earn 100 million pounds for two fights with Usyka.
Both Fury and Usyk are undefeated as professionals in a total of 55 matches.
There is still the possibility of the fight being pushed back to early 2024, but Fury insisted this week that the plan is to take place on December 23.
On Friday night, Fury and Ngannou attended a gala dinner in Riyadh and were joined by many VIPs.
The evening party was attended by Cristiano Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand, Mike Tyson and Eminem.
