But a stunned crowd in Saudi Arabia watched Ngannou submit Fury with a sharp left hook to the top of the head in the third round.

WBC champion Fury, whose belt was not on the line, beat the count and lasted 10 rounds, before the judges awarded him a split decision victory.

However, the result was highly contested, with many believing that Ngannou did enough to pull off the incredible upset.

And Fury’s performance was unconvincing, so his post-fight presser was canceled.

If it did happen, it would reportedly be a lavish event as Fury prepares to fight Oleksandr Usyk on December 23rd.

But there are now doubts whether the undisputed clash will go ahead as planned.

Usyk was in the ring for Fury-Ngannou and was stunned when the WBC king was dropped in the third round.

When asked about the date of the Usyk fight after the fight, Fury said: “Listen, I’m going home, I’ve been in training camp for 12 weeks now. I’ve had a long, hard old camp.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: “He’s going to rest, that’s what’s going to happen next and then he’s going to make a decision about what he wants to do because he’s the boss.”

Usyk was later thrown into the ring and went head to head with Fury.

Fury was more upbeat when the two squared off, saying: “Look, it’s been a long time coming. We were supposed to fight in April at Wembley. It never happened. Let’s do the fight here [Saudi Arabia].

“His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh will fight for all the belts, the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. Let’s go my brother, let’s go.”

Usyk simplified it and added: “Let’s go.”

Host Josh Denzel then put it bluntly, saying, “Is the fight going to be on December 23rd? It’s been hyped all over the boxing world. Are we going to see it on that date?”

Fury replied, “Listen, it’s not up to me, I’m a fighter and he’s a fighter. I’m sure we could go now. Let’s go now if you want!”

Denzel then turned to Usyk and said, “Can we make a deal on December 23rd?”

A slightly confused Usyk replied: “Oui.”

Warren then once again cast doubt on the December 23 date, admitting they could not commit until the cut on the top of Fury’s head was assessed.
