Tyson Foods has recalled nearly 30,000 pounds of dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets after consumers reported finding small pieces of metal inside the food.
On Saturday, the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Tyson was recalling 29,819 lbs. of its 29 oz. bags of fully cooked fun nuggets breaded chicken patties.
According to the department’s statement, the specific contaminated Fun Nuggets were manufactured on September 5 and shipped to distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The products include the facility number “P-7211” on the back of the package, according to FSIS. The products are also marked as best if used by September 4, 2024 and the following product codes: 2483BRV02 07, 2483BRV02 08, 2483BRV02 09 or 2483BRV02 10.
“A limited number of consumers have reported finding small, bendable metal pieces in the product, and out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling this product,” Tyson said in a statement. “Consumers who purchased the affected item should cut the UPC and date code from the packaging, discard the product, and call or text 1-855-382-3101.”

FSIS reported a “minor oral injury associated with consumption of this product” and noted that “anyone concerned about injury or illness should contact a physician.”
“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumer freezers,” the statement said. “Consumers who purchased these products are asked not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
A spokesperson for Tyson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for additional comment on Sunday.

The latest recall comes more than four years after an estimated 36,420 lbs. Tyson’s White Meat Panko Chicken Nuggets have been recalled. Those specific nuggets may have been contaminated with “foreign materials,” the Ministry of Agriculture said at the time.
In January 2019, the nuggets — which came in 5 lb. packages. plastic packaging and were packaged on November 26, 2018 and sold nationwide — they were labeled after customers reportedly found “foreign materials” in the food, including rubber.
Two months later, Tyson recalled 69,093 lbs. frozen ready-to-eat chicken, and in 2021 the company announced a recall for about 8.5 million pounds. frozen and cooked chicken products.
