UKRAINE is attempting a second attack on Russia with troops monitoring the Belgorod region after striking Kursk.
Kiev forces are attacking border checkpoints as Putin’s troops desperately fight to defend their ground, reports say.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said the Ukrainians were trying to “break through the border”, referring to the Government’s Defense Ministry.
He said: “According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the situation on the border remains difficult but under control.
“Our army is carrying out planned work. Please remain calm and trust only official sources of information.”
Rumors about fierce Ukrainian attacks are also circulating on Telegram.

As many as 300 of Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s men headed towards the Šebekino border crossing, with another 200 towards the west near Nehotejevka, according to Telegram channel Mash.
The city of Belgorod, which has a population of 340,000, is only 23 miles from the Nekhoteyevka checkpoint.
Reports on Telegram vary with another channel, Shot, claiming that there was no fighting in Shebekin and that the Ukrainians were pushed back to Nekhoteyevka.
Shot said up to 60 soldiers and eight Ukrainian armed vehicles entered the border crossing but were met with heavy Russian fire.
The pro-Kremlin channel claimed that Kiev troops were forced back into the forest, but continued to attack Russian positions.
Ukrainian army chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said his troops had reached the 100-city milestone in their Kursk offensive.

He told Ukrainian TV that they also control 500 square miles of Russian soil.
In an alarming development, the head of the United Nations nuclear agency flew to Kursk today to inspect the plant, which is located about 25 miles from the heart of the battle.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, warned that there is a “danger or possibility of a nuclear accident” that could cause “serious consequences”, reports Reuters.
He told reporters on Tuesday: “We see that the factory is still working, but at the same time, the fact that the factory is working can become even more serious in terms of possible action against it.
“When the plant is working, the temperature is much higher and if there was an impact or something that could affect it, there would be serious consequences.
Similar fears have previously been raised about a plant in Ukraine’s Zaporozhye following a Russian invasion in 2022.
Ukrainian and Russian authorities have since accused each other of endangering the site, but disaster has so far been averted.
The Ukrainian attack on Kursk was already threatening to spill over to Belgorod.
The citizens of Belgorod were called to shelter only a few days after the surprise invasion of Kursk.
Governor Gladkov wrote in a Telegram message: “The entire territory of Belgorod Oblast is DANGER FROM MISSILES.
“Go down to the basement. Stay there until you receive the ‘all clear missile threat’ signal.”

DRAMATIC footage has captured the moment a Ukrainian attack helicopter shoots a Russian drone out of the sky.
The helicopter hunts the Shahed-136, known as the kamikaze drone, while the attacker tracks its trajectory.
Gaining a clear line of sight, the Kiev troops then open machine gun fire from the helicopter.
The drone immediately begins to emit a thick trail of smoke as a volley of bullets explodes into it.
Within eight seconds it starts falling from the sky.

Shahed drones, designed and built in Iran, fly in the air to attack targets on the ground from a distance.
Russia often used them in its invasion, especially to target important infrastructure.
The US has previously accused Iran of giving hundreds of them to the government for its brutal attack on Ukraine.
About 11,000 people were evacuated from Krasnoyaruz district in Belgorod, Russian newspaper TASS reported.
On the Ukrainian side of the border, Vlad launched a major attack overnight – for the second night in a row – unleashing hundreds of drones and missiles.
Fifteen regions were affected and at least seven were killed.
Authorities said a hotel in the central city of Kryvyi was blown up, killing two, and two more were killed in drone attacks in the southeastern Zaporozhye region.
Ukraine was also forced to intercept strikes headed for the capital, Kyiv.

The Kremlin’s deadly strikes continue to fuel a debate over whether Kiev should be allowed to use Western weapons to strike deep inside Russia, where attacks are said to be launched.
LEADERS HIT RUSSIA
US President Joe Biden assured Zelenski that their relationship was “unshakable” after the attack.
He added: “Ukrainian officials report that this outrageous attack resulted in the deaths of Ukrainian civilians and targeted more than twenty critical energy sites.
“Let me be clear: Russia will never succeed in Ukraine, and the spirit of the Ukrainian people will never be broken.”
A Ukrainian MP from Kharkiv told Sky News that the bombings appeared to be designed to break people’s spirits.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy appealed to Xu to condemn the Kremlin for the attack.
He said: “The UK strongly condemns Russia’s cowardly missile and drone attacks on civilian infrastructure across Ukraine today.
“These attacks are a flagrant violation of international law and those responsible must be brought to justice.”
Lammy also mourned the death of Briton Ryan Evans, who was working for the Reuters news agency when a missile hit his hotel in Kramatorsk on Saturday.
