Ultimate Throwback Video of Paul Rudd Introducing World to Super Nintendo 33 Years Ago Goes Viral

One of Paul Rudd’s first TV commercials found new life on X this week.

On the platform, formerly known as Twitter, users highlighted an old ad from 1991 in which Rudd, then in his 20s, displayed the brand new Super Nintendo gaming system on the big screen. In the ad, Rudd pops the game into a console that shows gameplay footage of the now-nostalgic favorites SimCity and The Legend of Zelda.

According to various fan sites, the Super Nintendo system made its North American debut on August 23, 1991.

“33 years wow. Great memories!! One of the best systems ever…” wrote one user. “Paul Rudd hasn’t aged,” said someone else.

“I’m convinced there’s more than one Paul Rudd… they’re all clones. The original Rudd died in the 80s,” said another person. “That’s #PaulRudd 33 years ago and the guy still looks the same to me!” someone else commented.

Someone else wrote: “Nintendo should call Switch 2 Super Nintendo Switch and then get Paul Rudd to do the commercial again.”

“And yet being there with Steve Martin, when I think of the people who probably had the biggest impact on my life and my desire to do this, or my understanding that performing or anything else is a career that someone would have, it was him.” he added.

Rudd’s fans aren’t the only ones reminiscing. During an interview with the actor two years ago, he added that he often searches YouTube to watch old clips of big stars to clear his mind when he’s stressed.

“Sometimes I’ll start with an old clip [John] Lennon and [Paul] McCartney on a talk show or George Harrison singing with Paul Simon SNLand then I start going down George Harrison kind of rabbit holes, or music,” he said.
