Umesh Pal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in April 2019 in the presence of minister Satya Pal Singh Baghel. He left the BJP and joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) eight months before the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. He reportedly tried to contest the 2022 UP Vidhan Sabha elections from Phaphamau constituency on the ticket of the Samajwadi Party; however, according to some sources, he did not get a ticket despite donating Rs. 20 lakhs to the party fund. It is alleged that to get a ticket from the Samajwadi Party, Umesh even paid a sum of Rs. Rs 5 crore was given to a party leader who asked him to contest in the scheduled caste reserved Koraon constituency in place of Papa Mau. To facilitate this operation, a forged Dhangar caste certificate was produced for Umesh in the name of Krishna Kumar Dhangar. Umesh left the Samajwadi Party after a heated argument with party leaders over non-release of election tickets and rejoined the BJP ahead of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections.

Raju Pal is an Indian politician who became a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 2004 on a ticket from the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP). He eventually became an MP when Raju Pal defeated Atiq Ahmed’s brother Ashraf in the 2004 by-election. A threat to the political careers of Ashraf and Atiq Ahmed. Political competition somehow turned into personal competition. On January 25, 2005, Raju Pal was returning home from Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Allahabad when a car overtook his Qualis car. Raju was attacked by a group of gangsters in Sulem Sarai area. The murder of Raju Pal was a case that shocked the entire country, in which Atik was accused of being the mastermind. Umesh Pal is the key witness in the case.

On February 28, 2006, Atiq Ahmed’s goons abducted Umesh and threatened him not to testify in court, following which Umesh filed an FIR against Atiq and Ashraf at Dhoomanganj police station in Allahabad (now Prayagraj). The special MP-MLA court in Prayagraj convicted Atiq Ahmed, lawyer Saulat Hanif and Dinesh Pasi for kidnapping Umesh Pal on March 28, 2023; MP-MLA court special judge Dinesh Chandra Shukla based They were found guilty under Section 364-A (kidnapping or kidnapping for murder) of the Indian Penal Code. However, the court found seven people not guilty, including Atiq Ahmed’s brother Khalid Azim (also known as Ashraf). On March 27, 2023, Uttar Pradesh police transferred Atik Ahmed from the Gujarat jail to Prayagraj after a 24-hour road trip. On February 24, 2023, Umesh Pal was shot dead while getting out of the back seat of a Hyundai Creta SUV in Prayagraj; his two police bodyguards were also killed.

On February 24, 2023, Umesh Pal was shot dead by armed men, identified as Afghans, near his home in Sulem Saray area of Dhoomanganj. Atiq Ahmed’s thugs. According to reports, the attackers hurled improvised bombs at Umesh Pal and fired several bullets. After Umesh’s death, his widow Jaya Pal lodged an FIR against 27 people, including Atiq Ahmad, his wife Shaista Parveen, Atiq’s two sons and brother Khalid Azeem aka Ashraf. - Pooja Pal, the widow of Raju Pal, claimed that she witnessed Umesh Pal having sex with Atiq Ahmed and His associates severed ties with him after they got together.
- Umesh has reportedly filed multiple property-related lawsuits against Atiq. He allegedly provided information to the police about the assets and activities of the former gangster-turned-politician, leading to the seizure of properties worth crores of rupees from Atiq and his family.
