A United Airlines flight was diverted on Monday, the airline’s fifth problem in a week.
United Airlines Flight 830, traveling to San Francisco from Sydney, had to return to Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport due to a “maintenance issue,” the airline told PEOPLE. There were 167 passengers and 16 crew members in the Boeing 777-300.
“The aircraft landed safely and passengers exited normally at the gate. We are providing overnight accommodation for the passengers and have rebooked them to San Francisco the next day,” the airline told PEOPLE.

While the situation remains under investigation, a passenger recalled hearing a “big noise” before the plane tilted while speaking to KTRK.
“It looks like we veered. The plane was going a little too fast and it just skidded. That’s how I understood it. I’m glad everybody’s OK. I think the Lord was with us and protected us,” said passenger Mike Allard. The airport confirmed xex Twitter that no one was hurt.
A day earlier, United Airlines Flight 35 also had to divert to Los Angeles after a tire fell off the plane after taking off from San Francisco International Airport en route to Osaka, Japan.
