Usher has toddlers and teenagers under the same roof, with one child ready to rule them all.
Appearing on the cover of this week’s issue of PEOPLE magazine, the Super Bowl halftime host says that of his four children — son Sire Castrello, 17 months, and daughter Sovereign Bo, 3½, with wife Jennifer Goicoechea, and teenagers Naviyd Ely, 15, and Usher “Cinco ” V, 16, who he shares with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster — his daughter stands out from the pack.
“My triplet is cold the whole trip but she’s so loving and I don’t know why I named her Sovereign because she’s a dictator. I made her a dictator because of the name,” the R&B singer, 45, laughs, adding: “Be careful what you ask for because you will get it.”
“But if there’s anything I’m asking for, it’s that my kids grow up to love each other, and there’s enough distance between the boys who are older and the babies that they can cover each other and know that they’re protective of each other, that they’re willing to challenge each other. another, to really be the kind of structure I sometimes wish I had,” continues the proud dad.
“I didn’t have any older brothers or sisters. I’m the oldest of my sisters and brother, but I realize that whenever I get the chance.”

The artist says that fatherhood taught him: “Each situation represents a different direction.”
“You can’t treat your children the same way. You have to make sure they have their time and you’re sensitive to what they’re saying or trying to say, and help them get to a place where they can communicate their emotions because it becomes traumatic for them if they don’t they get a chance to get out,” he says. “And maybe they didn’t want to be as mean as they are or be out of pocket.”
Usher says his goal is always to “be patient and talk [things]”with my children.
“You’re going to have experiences that are going to be good, or they’re going to have experiences that are going to challenge you. You have to have someone who’s going to try to be patient with you,” he says.
“It’s satisfying because at 45 I can still move. I can still run, I can still keep up with them. Skating is probably the thing that keeps me agile that way, and it’s impressive to them. I’m still their is cool,” he shares before adding, “My elders, I don’t know if I’m cool to them.”

The singer recently released his new video for his song “Ruin,” which features a cameo from Sovereign, who is wearing a pretty pink dress and playing with blocks on the floor with her dad.
In the video, the singer looks at his daughter’s SR initial necklace before scooping her up in his arms. As the video ends, he puts a princess tiara on her head.
“Daddy’s little girl 👸🏾 “Rushin” OUT NOW #COMING,” Usher captioned the video on Instagram.
