Prue Leith has seen some fan criticism of herself – and she doesn’t take issue with what’s been said.
In a new interview with The Sunday Times, Great British bakery range The judge (83) reacted to a fan of the series who said that she has a specific way of speaking. (The series is known as The Great British Bake Off in England.)
“Oh, I hate my voice. It’s too posh,” Leith told the paper. “When I replaced Mary Berry Bake Off, someone on Twitter said, ‘Oh no, not that classy bitch,’ and I kind of agreed with her.”
“But yeah, Americans seem to like it,” the star added in her own voice.

The Great British Baking Show: The answer to every burning question
Leith joined Great British bakery range in March 2017, replacing Berry, 88, when the telecast moved to Channel 4.
Her ex Great British bakery range costar Sandi Toksvig will soon appear in the star’s upcoming show, At Prue Leith’s Cotswold kitchen, after she left the Netflix show in 2020
At the time, Toksvig, 65, said she would be leaving the program to focus on other work projects.

However, in an interview with Radio Times earlier this year, Toksvig revealed that she had “stopped having fun” on the show.
“To be honest, I left [the show] because I stopped having fun. I was literally standing there watching the meringues dry and thinking, ‘Oh my God, my brain is atrophying,'” she said. “So after three years, I thought, ‘That’ll do, go do something else!’ ”
“I’m in love with the job enough to think, ‘Okay, it’s a nice salary, but it’s not working for me. I’m going to move on and do something else,'” added Toksvig.

Reacting to Toksvig’s comments, Leith said The Sunday Times he can’t sympathize with his former costar, noting, “But I can see how that is with Sandi because she’s such an intellectual.”
“Now she’s back at university and she’s not going to make any money, but she loves it because she’s so smart and she loves working with young people,” she continued, referring to Toksvig’s research project at Cambridge University, per The Sunday Times.
“Even when she was the presenter, judges like me are not on the screen all the time,” added Leith. “I’ll move on, eat the cake and leave. I can be busy writing the cookbook the rest of the time.”
All seasons The Great British Baking Show currently streaming on Netflix.
