Vadivelu made his film debut with a small role in the film En Thangai Kalyani (1988). In 1991, he starred in the film “En Rasavin Manasile” with the popular comedy duo Goundamani and Senthil. After this film, he acted in more films with Goundamani and Senthil.
He explored the role of Maakali in the film Chinna Gounder (1992) starring Vijayakanth. He played the role of Sabha in the film Singaravelan (1992). The actor is popular for his role as Vasanth in the film Kadhalan (1994) starring Prabhu Deva.
In 1996, he played the role of Sekar in the film “Kaalam Maari Pochu” and received great appreciation for his performance. On September 21, 2008, Vadivelu’s home in Chennai’s Saligramam community was attacked with stones by a group of people, causing damage to windows and furniture. However, the actor managed to save himself by hiding in a room. Vadivelu alleged that actor Vijayakanth was involved in the attack as there was an ongoing legal dispute between them over the attack. Wadiveru said the attack occurred before the final court hearing, so he was unable to attend. Vadiveru later filed a counter-case against Vijayakanth for attempted murder. Speaking about it in an interview, he said,
This is no joke. It’s been more than a year since they (Vijayakanth’s supporters) first clashed with me (on September 12, 2007) and I will appear in court on Monday in connection with the case and now they are complicating matters. ”
Cases filed against Manobala and Singamuthu
In June 2020, Vadivelu complained to the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artists Association) about actors Manobala and Singamuthu for defaming his name. Wadivelu claimed that during an interview with Manobala’s YouTube channel “Waste Paper”, Singamuthu made some derogatory remarks against him, which were subsequently circulated on the internet to defame him ( Vadivelu).
Vadivelu temporarily banned
In September 2018, during the filming of Imsai Arasan 24 am Pulikesi, a sequel to the 2006 film Imsai Arasan 23 am Pulikesi, Vadivelu had a dispute with the film’s producer Chimbu Deven over the costume designer. . The actor quit the project midway and the film’s producers S. Shankar and Subaskaran Allirajah complained to the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council (TFPC) about his uncooperative attitude. The Producers Council initially asked Vadivelu to either resume shooting or pay Rs 9 crore as compensation to the producers. However, the actor refused to agree to either option, following which the Producers Council temporarily banned him from acting in Tamil films.
