Valerie Bertinelli Is Taking a Social Media Break Because She’s ‘Overwhelmed and Mentally/Emotionally Exhausted’

The Day by day The 64-year-old star revealed on Instagram that she is taking an internet break, a week after wrapping up her US tour for her new cookbook. Let yourself go.

“The last six or so weeks have been… A LOT,” Bertinelli captioned a selfie of herself with her head resting on her hand.

“And while I’m incredibly grateful for all of your support for my book and everyone I’ve been lucky enough to meet, this introvert in extrovert clothing here needs a mental health break,” she continued.

The actress and author said that while she understands that she doesn’t “need to announce my departure,” she wants to share the news with some fans who “worry about me if I don’t post often enough.”

“But I’m fine. Honestly,” she said. “Taking a little social media cleanse/detox and mental health break is a good thing and I’m grateful to be at a place in my life where I’m aware enough to know when I’m overwhelmed and mentally/emotionally drained.”

She then told fans to “beware” and promised to “be back before you know it”.

Bertinelli released her new book on April 2 and kicked off her book tour the same day in Long Island, NY. She wrapped up her book tour — with several events and performances — in Newark, Del., on May 6.

During that time, the cookbook author also revealed a few life updates, including that she has a new boyfriend, Mike Goodnough. Bertinelli went Instagram official with Goodnough on April 20, sharing a selfie of the couple on Instagram.

“🎶 I’ll drink what you’re thinking and I’m freaked out smoking your jokes all damn night 🎶,” Bertinelli wrote in the caption, using lyrics from Taylor Swift’s “So High School.”

In late April, she thanked fans for their support of her new cookbook and her “life updates.”

“When I go for a walk, I think a lot. Sometimes sweet, sometimes challenging,” Bertinelli wrote in the description. “Thinking about this week and the kindness you have shown me in our conversations at Let yourself go book signings, and here online, I just wanted to send you a big thank you for supporting me and for all your sweet responses to my life updates. 🥰”

The celebrity chef continued: “I truly love this community that we’ve built here. Thank you for staying. Through the challenging and through the sweet.”
